It is still YOUR choice to run illegal or not Condo.

If you drive the legal speed then you have no need of a radar detector.

If you bought it in 98 it is useless against the laser guns that most LEOs are using in many areas.

Apology accepted! The names are close enough to maybe cause a confusion. The names were also in bold print, lol
That's kind of a personal question, lol.
You're the one that admitted to "getting old", I understand why you'd want to pace yourself these days, lol.

No I don't need it, but I like to know where they are at. Especially since nobody gives reports anymore. They let me know where wrecks are and whether I'm surfing too fast down a hill. A detector has more advantages than doing bad things. And when 90% of the population speeds everyday, I'm considered one of the better ones. I don't speed in construction zones but I do in regular 55 mph zones is about the only place.

My choice is to run hard or sit. There's no in between in the meat hauling business. You try running 1200 miles in 30 hours and have 5 drops when you get there. You'll have the pedal buried too when you get fined $400 if you are late.

I think I paid $400, maybe it was $300 for the detector. Anyways it's stealth and I still pick up 98% of the bears from 2 miles plus away. It still works good as most are still on X and K band. It has laser and even POP radar. I seen POP twice since I had it.

You sound like one of these logless truckers that's in the truck stop by 1500 M-F. :biggrin_2559: The whole trucking industry hasn't adapted to that yet.

Can they search, yes. President Bush gave up search and seizure rights in the Patriot Act. Bit in addition DOT FMCSA reserve the right to search a commercial vehicle. It does not have to be a DOT bear, and local can do it also.

    Now the off thread crap.....

If you understand a few things about radar guns it helps. The laser type radar gun is still radar for speed assessment, the laser is for aiming to prevent or minimize wrong target interception. Also the laser type radar is instant on low power, narrow band. So it is only functioning at close proximate, It also give them the ability pick a target out of a group of vehicles and must be operated from a stationary position from 60 to 90 degrees or it will simply not lock on. If it did trigger your detector and your speeding , your detector is simply telling you your getting a ticket.

The good side is your not getting a ticket from some 4 wheeler haul butt. If it gets you you were speeding.

I stopped getting speeding tickets when I got rid of the the Bel Sti.

You need to learn to run smarter, why would you work for someone that would try to fine you for running legal. 1200 miles in 30 hours is nothing. I run 550 and 700 a day everyday. That would be loading twice and delivering twice. I normally run around 62 / 65 because thats where I'm comfortable. If someone were to tell me they were going to take my money for a load that was over dispatched I would give them the phone number to my lawyer. Personally I think your posting sounds like a bit of pontification.

Yes its called the Patriot Act, which no longer requires probable cause, just a judges signature which they can get latter, they do not have to get it up front. It covers searches of anywhere within US authority.

Obama is no better he signed to continue it after he was elected.
