They all claim to be the best i think there all the same just a different coloured bonnet and a different despatcher thats about it apart from maybe a better or worse mile rate. anything above 30c a mile is pretty good if your just starting out.

Just remember this "I've Paid My Dues so Let Me Cruise"!!! Do the time behind a wheel and you will get that golden oppurtunity that you have been wanting and waiting for.

look at the upper right and see 0-1 experience?
so the huge training co dont meet the recruitee"s standards? the people did not train him properly? does not play well with others? he failed to deal with it.
i signed on with the huge company. i let the training come out of my check at 25$ a week . i took the pressure. worked my ##### off for cheap. i stayed 2 1/2 years.i really needed a job and there was no going home to mommy.
drive new equipment, drop n hook. pay laborerers to unload freight and get reimbursed.go all over the place. prove your gonna take care of all that equipment and freight and not flip out and walk off. maybe you can hack it get some experience and buy your own or get that great job
some day all the obama money will be gone and the oppurtunity mite go away too

Sometimes, if you work hard enough AND make some "in person" appearances, you can get a good job right away. I worked for Trans-Am for 3 weeks. That's it. I left when they tried to tell me it was lease or go home. I don't think they expected me to have the resources to simply go home nor did Lee Tubbs see the attorney wife of mine waiting to shove it in. I went home, rode my bikes for the summer then I started hunting HARD. I NEVER did an online application. I always went in person, before 11 am. I landed a local fuel hauling gig and haven't looked back. It's a pain in the butt. However, it's a pain in the butt where $700 is a crappy week and I am home nightly on a 5 day work week.

Well, not to change the subject, but I'm gonna change the subject. I voted Werner.

Here's why: I look at the overall picture when I decide what's a good company and what's a bad company. Werner, overall, has crappy equipment that is poorly maintain and drivers who are filthy, rude or in a big ol' hurry all the time trying to race that electronic log. I know, it's a generalization and there are good Werner drivers out there....somewhere.

But here's my experience: I worked security at a shipper Werner frequented. Their drivers were the thickest lot I've ever had the misfortune of having to direct around the mill. There was one in particular who came into the guard house and I had to run him out because I could smell his feet through his shoes.

On another occasion, I was crossing a narrow bridge that was down to one lane for repair. I was about the 5th truck in line going westbound. The first truck got to the other end and stopped because a Werner had his trailer kicked out a little too far into our lane. The lead driver politely asked Werner to back up so he could clear the trailer. Werner argued with the guy for a while and eventually said, "Well maybe you should come here so I can slap the s*** out of you instead." The guy answered, "Well, I could, but that wouldn't accomplish anything and we'd still be stuck on the bridge. You can move now or I can call the highway patrol and you'll move for them." Finally, Werner backed up. As I passed him, I saw a large man wearing grubby clothes with a dirty face, nasty looking teeth and about 4 days stubble driving a filthy truck that appeared to have been through a hurricane. When I went through the little space he made, my left mirror was 1/2 inch from the corner of his trailer and I was scrubbing the curb with my right tires.

On another occasion, I was coming out of a shipper and a Werner in a fairly nice Baby-Pete followed me out bobtail. He attempted to pass me on the right as I was entering the roadway. There wasn't enough space, so he was forced to follow me down the road for a mile or so. The entrance to the freeway was a left turn with a short turn lane. As we approached the turn lane, I put my signal on and started moving into it. Werner hammered down to get in front of me and flipped me off on his way past. He got off the freeway about two miles down and I was passing under the bridge to his exit as he was pulling up to the stop sign. Saved an awful lot of time with that maneuver.

And the last one I have is this: I was sitting in my (then) brand new truck...15K miles on it...talking on the phone with a friend. A dilapidated Freightliner Classic pulled up across from me and parked. Out steps this....er...guy....who looked like a train wreck. He was disgusting. Filthy, torn clothes, uncombed hair, stuff sticking to his beard, huge blackheads all over his face, black rotten teeth... He approached my truck, so I rolled the window down. I'm a polite person. He proceeded to attempt to recruit me for Werner. Said he had run a very good week, gotten a $400 paycheck and got a whole 1800 miles. I should go to work for Werner....they'll keep me rolling. As nicely as I possibly could, I indicated that although the company I'm running for now isn't necessarily the best on the road, I would opt to remain with them, wished him luck and rolled my window back up so his stench would not pervade my living quarters.

That's why I believe Werner is the worst of the worst.

I heard from other Drivers that Randy Marten used to run a good company...I dont know if he is even involved with the company anymore, other than to have his name on the equipment
    The company is horrible now.

OTR doesnt exist...any freight that has any miles goes on rail...the only miles you get are in the midwest...your lucky if you get 1500 mi a wk...OTR!

Most of the runs are 200-400 mi with flex pay...meaning they justify the short trips by giving you an extra 2-3 cents per mile...but you dont get miles.

Forget about getting home anywhere near ontime...at least 4-8 days late EVERY time...thats with 2-3 weeks notice...it doesnt matter what the reason is...they just dont care...

    In summary...no miles...no hometime...and no one cares.

oh ya...the regional drivers service the rail yards...even less miles.

Ive worked for 3 of the companies on the "Worst" list

MARTEN looks good on paper...but the reality is completely different...they suck.

LOL,wow I love the armchair quarterbacking. Thanks,NOW I realize that it was ME.
    It wasn't Swift(Hiccup):biggrin_25513:
    Here's a thought(just a thought-perhaps your ability to genuflect might be lacking,so I will do THAT here)
Lets say...umm.. just hypothetical of course....that you spend 11 months with a company and in that short time with said company-they lie to you(more than once:biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525::biggrin_25525:)ask YOU to lie,ask you to break the law, give you incorrect information, and etc etc....
    Well what would YOUR
(I mean as an educated "trucker"[may I be so bold?] )
opinion (of that HYPOTHETICAL company )be?
Because(and PLEASE)forgive me- if MY experience offends you-but I don't remember seeing YOU "riding shotgun" with me and experiencing the BULL CA CA that I experienced with that GREAT:biggrin_25525: company
I think that an old timer put it best to me-was the closest that I could get to a compliment about Swift:"This USED to be a good place to work at."

Thanks for the attempt at enlightenment on what I experienced working for those lying lowlife slimebags.
I spent 14 years with my previous company and though the work was hard and I had to put up with a lot of shytt- the management was fair and unbiased-AND they backed you up when you were right. And I sucked it up when I was wrong because I respected them and their experience and their committment to being the best. They had enough integrity to follow through on their committments to all of us....Maybe I was asking too much from Swift in expecting them to do the same.
I hope this does not offend you:
I'll stick with MY statements-which are based on MY experience with that slimy bunch of lying knownothing lowlifes at Swift.
    Take care.

Mattrucker, Sometimes I'm a little slow on the uptake, but I'm thinking you probably would tell me to keep Swift scratched from my list of applications :biggrin_25525:
