how the hell do these people ever make it as drivers...

Powder Joints, i love your smart butt comment about brake lights, hahahaha. I jam an item into my trailer brake lever on the dash to turn my brakes on and go back and check them. :)

The easiest way is to wait til someone is tailgating you and stomp on your brakes.

Here's how I'm gonna do it from now on...'Cause no one's gonna ever say that I can't learn something new from a rookie!

OK...Hypotheticly speaking, It's 07:00, I'm sittin' in the sleeper berth doing my logbook, This would be logged on line 2 because I'm in the sleeper.
I discover that I have left my calculator in the cubby hole on the dash and lean into the cab to get it...I will flag that on line 4 since I am momentarily out of the sleeper berth. A few minutes later I discover that I have to pee and so I pass through the cab (line 4) and then walk into the truckstop...This I will log on line 1 since I'm now off of the truck and have no resposibility for anything at this point.

When I get back to the truck I'll pass through the cab (line 4) and then into the sleeper to continue filling out my logbook (Line 2 since I'm now in the sleeper) A couple minutes into this a decide I'm thirsty and lean into the cab (Line 4) to get my bottled water out of the cup holder and then go back in the sleeper (line 2) then I realize that my mileage record book is in the cubby hole on the dash so I lean in to the cab to get it (line 4) and then back into the sleeper (line 2) I finally get my logbook squared away and I'm gettin' ready to go, It's now 09:30! I get out and do my 15 minute pretrip and get in the drivers seat and get ready to go so I log onto line 3, Then I realize that I have to pee again so I log onto line 1 and go inside to do that.

I get me an Iced tea and walk back out to the truck and put my cup in the cup holder in the cab (line4) and then go into the sleeper (Line 2) to put on a fresh shirt because I got it dirty during my pretrip (Line 4) It's now 11:30. I get back into the drivers seat (line 3) and realize that my truck's been running all day while I've been CYA'n and it's low on fuel, So I go to the fuel island and get some fuel and do a walk around (Line 4 30 minutes) I have to pee again so I log onto line 1 and go do that and get back into the truck and get ready to go...Now it's 12:30.
Now I'm ready to go trucking...I need to quickly calculate the hours that I have available to drive today but I left my calculator in the sleeper so I log onto line 2 and go get it and then I decide to just sit at the desk in the sleeper to do the calculations so I lean into the cab to get my logbook and my pen (line 4) and I find that with all of the lines I've been drawing all morning My pen's run out of ink! so I root around in the drawers in the sleeper (line 2) and then look around in the cab (Line 4) and decide that I have to ge in and get a new one so I log on to line 1 and go inside to get it and pee again (I gotta quit drinkin' so much iced tea) Then I look at the clock and it's 13:30 man I guess while I'm in here I'll get some lunch and relax a while 'cause all of this runnin'back and forth really takes it out of you!

I finally get back to the truck and climb into the seat (Line 4)...It's 14:45 and NOW I'm really ready to do some truckin'! I go back in the sleeper (Line2) and get ready to draw some lines and get going...Man I'm thirsty, I lean into the cab to grab my drink (Line 4) and then get back into the sleeper (Line 2) to get my book finished and go...I get done and get into the drivers seat and some guy's poundin' on my door tellin' me I gotta get my truck off the fuel island because trucks are backed up out to the street I don't see what the problem is really, I mean I've only been on the fuel island for 3 hours! So I go back to line 1 and get out of the truck to tell him I don't like being talked to like I'm some kind of idiot! Man I never realized how hard this whole trucking deal is...Till I started runnin' CYA legal!

OK, I finally get back in the truck (Line 4) and get in the seat and fill out my book and get ready to go and I realize that it's 18:30 and I still have to do a 15 minute post trip (Line 4) so I'll just pull around into a parking spot and call it a day...So I go find a parking spot (Line 3) and get the pretrip (Line4) done and get back in the sleeper (Line 2) and stay in there for the rest of the night peein' in a jug and eatin' coldcuts and stale bread so that no one get a video of me sittin' in the seat (Line 4) in case I have a hypothetical accident tomorrow (If I can get my book filled out and get goin' before I run out of hours again!)

I check my brake lights every pretrip. Just set the trailer brakes with the Johnson bar and the lights will come on if they are working.

C'mon man.. I kinda get what you're saying but at some point, personal pride and the fact you don't wanna injure yourself or someone else has to step in. If a marker light or one tail light is out I'll run it but I'll get it fixed when I get there since the hub I run has a shop and I don't wanna stick the next driver the way the previous one stuck me. If I have a tire loosing tread or a broken spring the trailer is getting swung to another and tagged since those are major safety issues that could injure someone in your family or worse.

Not all trucks have them but that is definitely the easiest way.

    #### driver. How did you ever make it out here this long. :biggrin_25513: Just leave your foot resting on the bunk when you go to grab that drink and save

    yourself a little line drawing.

I can't wait until I can get on-line wireless with my laptop again so I can read all I've missed of this thread. Right now I'm "borrowing" on line time from the motel across the street. Don't want to abuse the hospitality!:biggrin_2559:
