I really like the new features and the unit seems more stable. I was hoping we could enter an average speed instead of picking more or less adjustment.

My truck is governed at 62 at the moment, and I keep it on the longest one. That way I can get to the location on time or a few min early.
When selecting a truck stop, always check the exit listed on the address before you compute the route. It will say the correct exit.
So even it the unit finds a ramp flag or See's no way in from that direction you know where it is.
Also, if it is routing you 10 miles up the road you probably have avoid U turns on.
I keep it off, the unit computes faster that way, and I just will not do them.
I agree that the Via points need to be finished, but it is helpful.
And you can set your final and via, then set location at the via point and run the rest of the route to check it before you are on it.
Yes it is a work around, but better than before.
Also, when I get to a point that I am sure it will stay going the way I want too I can skip to next stop. And it will route without the via.Dieselboss and Kimono_skunk Thank this. -
Something I have noticed.
When set to shortest, the unit wants to route off the highways and back on. It does this a lot.
Example. I-80 west in Nevada. Unit wanted me to take exit 178 and run across town on 80BL, then back on I-80
Did the same thing in Fernley, NV.
It is the 1573 version, only avoid set is tolls
All truck settings standard. -

good suggestions..

Nobody has ever been able to straighten that out. Keep in mind that shortest does not mean shortest time. It flat out picks the shortest, most direct route. All the units do that.

Not just shortest. Routing Houston TX to Los Angeles. Which should be I10 the whole trip it wants you to take highway 60 through half of AZ. Ya its 20 miles shorter, but taking the 60 is a lot longer timewise.
I called RM myself today in a last ditch effort to get an answer on via points and the technician actually laughed at me and asked why I needed via points. When I explained it was to edit the route he said, excuse me sir, the TND is a navigation device. It tells you where to, you don't tell it. I got mad and replied back that I attempted to follow its route once, it sent me on a highway with to less than 14' bridges when I had a 14' trailer. And yes I had the trailer entered in as such.
I really like the tnd it has so much potential over the others. But they focused so hard on the frills they let the mapping data go to crap. Anytime you take an interstate through a state and it shows you off the highway over 50% of the time. Either you half assed it or did absolutely no testing in that state.RAG Thanks this. -
The Houston to LA run was set on fastest BTW.

Hey Mark,
I know that the TND 500 FREAKS out about the pilot on exit 29 off I-95 in GA. Its like it does not know that you can turn left into the parking lot. I tries to send you up 10 miles to the next exit. then send you south on spur 25. fallowed by south on hwy 17. to turn right into the parking lot. if heading south it does the same thing. I live off this exit so i just laugh at it but still anyone who didn't know better would be screwed. But this left hand turn is not new its been their for atleast the 12 years that i have lived here. :O Might wanna send this one up to the boys at RM
