I remember from another site a long time ago that a driver had parked his truck in his drive. Some new neighbors was walking in front of his truck with their little kid. They gave the air sign and he complied. The mother was shocked as well as the driver when the horn made a odd muffled sound and a dead bird that had flown into the horn was dislodged!:smt104
Do you honk at kids?

Sure I always honk, that's why I put train horns on my truck, the little kids love them
-
I'm a little leery of doing that, especially if the kids are on a moving school bus. I'm afraid it may startle the driver into an accident.

My son knows that if where not in a town he can ask for them to Honk and he's had a few that would but most dont . Its not like when i was growing up the driver would always do it . any way for the one of you that do thanks great.

I don't drive yet, but when I do, I will hit the horns for the kids, if it's safe to do so at the time. The wife and I took a road trip out to Illinois this past year, to spend Christmas with her family. She made up a sign that said "Merry Christmas" and she held it up to the trucks as we passed them on I-70. Most of them blew the horns, but they all smiled and waved. We passed one truck a couple of times, the woman was driving and her husband/boyfriend was in the jump seat, and she laid on the horn and waved like crazy everytime. I guess it made her day. It was pretty cool.

I always do it, so long as it is safe to do so, for both. Under normal circumstances, I'll never do it within city limits. However, there was one time I was near a school for the mentally challenged and they were outside on a recess. One of 'em started givin' me the honk sign, then about 15-20 of 'em followed suit. I had to give 'em one big ol' blast...yanno, the uhhhhh uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh blast. Made their day and it brought a smile to my face too.

Thats so cool my son is Mentally Challenged and he loves when they honk at him like i said i have tought him not to do in city limits -
lol Im a newbie should I honk? I mean I loved it as a kid its what kinda has made me want to be a trucker. I was obsessed with airhorns till my old man played a cruel trick on me. He hooked up the air to the triple train horns b4 I got it completly bolted on and snuck in the cab to blow them while I was still bolting it up lol cruel ####### anyway.
-
Oh come on, that's not that cruel... Besides, think of all the simles you will get if you honk for those kids! It seems like almost everyone feels the same way, as long as its safe, let 'em hear it!
I was reminded of a funny incident on the NY thruway. My co-driver and I were crusing along, when a car pulls up next to us with two pretty gals in it. Well low and behold, the passenger holds up a little whiteboard with the mesage 'You're hot' on it. that got me smiling my best ####-eating grin, meanwhile, she flips it over, and on the other side it says 'spank me!'. Now I had to blow the horn!
Anyways, they took off, I let the other drivers know on the CB, and sure enough, they were playing this game with all the big trucks they were passing.

Yes i honk! Absolutely without a doubt. Growing up my dad used to tell us to give the sign to truckers to honk. He made a game out of it to see which one of the three boys could get the most honks on a trip
. My dad is gone now but I still remember so I always honk and think of those trips with my dad.
Ezrider_48501 Thanks this.
