i got a ticket 2 years ago more than 15 miles over in my car , i went to school was hired and went through 2 months of training with the company, when i was ready to get my truck they sent me home because of said ticket that they knew about the whole time! Can they fire me? I wasn't charged with reckless.

Yes they can, and 15 or more over the Speed Limit IS reckless driving!

Look for a smaller company they may give you a chance.

now my friend you were lucky, 15 over the posted limit is automaticly considered will full and wanton reckless and the officr has the option to take you to jail or just give you a ticket and that is in most states you could have went to jail.

the ticket will stay against you for seven years before it goes away and some insurance company's will hod it against you for 10 the state does not .
reckless is pretty serious in this business but like the man said earlyier you can try a smaller company and they might give you a chance but none of these big company's will there to good to help some one .

good luck my friend. southernpride :biggrin_25514:

MONEY. this sounds like CRE, or SWIFT. They do that all the time, and then sue the person for training cost all that.

I've read that Swift tends to do this. Point out that you included this information on your application (I hope you've kept a copy) and they won't be able to hold you accountable for the training costs.

Yes, but will you have to pay for the training? This is the trap of the CDL mills. When you can make more money training than hauling freight, what do you do?

    It is a racket.

Can't stress enough for all you new drivers, MAKE SURE YOU TELL THEM THE FIRST DAY IN ORIENTATION EVERYTHING!!!! They WILL find out and most likely fire you if the offense does not meet their criteria! These big companies literally have people that their job is to just investigate you. Make sure to tell your recruiter everything in writing and when you show up for orientation have your mvr and dac on you. I promise you, that you will not get away with trying to hide something. If you end up like this poor guy who started the thread you may have already invested money and time with the company. These companies aren't going to give you a 200,000 rig with a million dollar load if they: A-can't trust you B-if they don't know every little thing about you. Sorry that happened to you Deek, they may have fired you because you were not upfront about it, not because of the ticket itself. Just a theory, not an accusation. The good news is there are over 450,000 trucking companies in the U.S. Someone will hire you. In a year that ticket will drop off anyway. Good luck!

They can release you for any reason,

they often will fib about the reason they let you go.........

and or give NO reason---they are NOT required to tell you a thing !!!!!

...assuming it's a "right to work state". There are laws in many states preventing employers from firing you without reason.
