I recently got a prehire 2 weeks ago and need a refresher course before I can go to orientation. I have a question about hometime. I posted in the new driver section and was referred to this section, here is what I posted:
I asked my recruiter about where the truck would be parked since I live in Northwest Georgia and the closet terminal is in Pensacola. She told me that I can take my hometime in say Adairsville or another close city and park at a truck stop and get a ride to the house. Is this the case or did she send me a line of BS and I am going to have to drive home from the Pensacola yard everytime?

So you have Amy as your DM. I'm sure you have talked to Jennifer thus far? You can find a truckstop close and go from there. You don't have to drive from the terminal.
-
Actually, I have only talked to Jennifer from day one. She has been really patient with my questions and has helped me out alot. Thanks for the reply, now I dont have to worry about the extra driving from the yard to home.

If you have room at your house you can take the truck home.
-
When you get a truck, you will be assigned to a DM...probably Amy. and yes, like Kabar said...if you have room, you can take it home. I live in a subdivision so that's not an option for me. I park at a nearby truck stop and have the wife come get me.

how much time do they give you? one day for every week out? max 4 days? so even if you're out 6 weeks.. you get 4 days off?
-
For me there hasn't been a max. It's one day off for every week but I've driven 4 weeks and been home 6-7 days many times. I just tell them I want to go back out on whatever date I want (within reason). Sometimes it works, sometimes not. I don't think the max is 4 days though if you put in more weeks out.
-
this was my experience with them as well. -
My hometime mirrors both Big Ray & Lovintruckin...
Also helps to have a very good DM who is willing to work with you.
You need to remember that they are a business that needs their
drivers to drive, if you dont try to abuse that you should have no
problems.......

reason I ask is that I was just out 5 weeks.. expected 5 days off... DM told me that 4 days is the max. that was news to me. I pointed out I'd been out 5 weeks.. she said "sorry, 4 days max". Now I think I may need to find out from someone a little higher up in the chain of command there. You guys are just confirming what I was thinking it was.
