Not trying to make a case for going back to the old way, or any other sort of crusade for or against the hours of service, just looking for opinion as to which one you like the best, since I am thinking about getting back into a truck and I got out of the business just before the change took place.
Which do you like best? Feel free to weigh in with your positives and negatives toward both if you like.
Do you like the new hours of service regulations, or the old regulations?

I started driving with the 2004 rules, I liked that much better than what we have now, I feel it encourages you to drive tired so you get your driving done before you run out the fourteen hours, it was easier and possible to do difficult tasks and still be legal.

I personally liked it the last regulations before the one we have now. You could split break so many different way and gave you a little flexibility. The way they have it now there is no flexibility and just creates people to lie on their logs even more. Not to mention you had the option to take a nap if you needed to on the last rules of regulation, but now they have it where you must drive all the way threw your day. This makes it very unsafe because drivers will drive drowsy just to not fall of schedule cause they can't nap if they need to. I personally don't need naps everyday but there are many drivers that do. Very unsafe the way they have the laws now. New laws hurts owner ops and help big corps

I am have realized split breaking is probably safer because if you stop for a 2 hour break during your 14 hour, (eat & nap) then at the end of your 14 hour you take a 8 hour break! Now to continue driving you need to understand how to figure the 14 hr, but that is part of it! Learn the regulations well and you might realize they are not as bad as you think they are! -
I have studied and know the rules very well, They are simply nowhere near as safe as they was with the previous rules. Sure under a perfect load and a perfect example you are able to take a nap, but we all know when adding dock times and other such down times under the new laws you are not as flexible as you once was to pull over and take a nap.
That's all I was trying to say. -

I like the 34 restart. Other than that I like the old way. -
