One of my dearest friends is a Canadian trucker... and after years and years of running on both sides of the border, he said "no more" to stateside. Doesn't like our regs and doesn't like our roads. So I guess it works two ways.![]()
do you get more $ for Canada /remote locations?

I'll go into Canada anytime, and even been known to ask if there are any loads available. I've found that rude behavior from bigtrucks and 4wheelers alike is a lot less. Except for maybe kabeck, Canada's version of california, ya know?
The shipper/receivers I've dealt with have been very decent and helpful. I've even been able to get the Provincial Police to help me out, very willingly I may add.
I get paid an extra 22.50 each time I clear customs, and if I have to stop at a broker, I get extra stop pay.
You just have to be sure to have your paperwork in order. That is a MUST. US Customs usually have no sense of humour on incoming. But I've never had a problem.
Ayup, Canada anytime, eh.
As far as dangerous? Have never noticed a difference. -
HELLOOOOOOO........... SASQUATCH!!!???!!!

Its a safe bet that you have to have a larger set than comes standard issue now days.
I watched a pretty intensive show on it on the History channel. I wanna do it at least once. The pay is AWESOME. Around $3000 a week for 3 months. 50 inches of ice will support A LOT of weight. And if you drive the way they tell you to, it looked pretty safe to me. -

It does pay a lot better to the truck owner. -
I hauled beer out of London and Waterloo, Ontario before 9/11. I remember the donut shops on every corner, and lack of billboards on the highways. It may be difficult to find a truckstop until you know the territory. Also, only a licensed torque wrench mechanic can install a bud wheel on a rig after, for example, a tire repair.

If you have never been into Canada before, after you cross the border, stop at an A&W resturaunt and have yourself a large poutine & root beer. You'll be glad you did.
