A guy I know last year decided he wanted to be a truck driver and he quit his job went to school and started driving. Last I heard, he had been out on the road about 3 or 4 weeks, wanted to go home, but they kept putting him off. Apparently, he got fed up with this so just parked the truck in Minnesota, and took a bus home.

Why is truck abandonment such a bad thing and what other things are the "big no-no's" for drivers?

    Just curious. Thanks in advance.

Other companies will find out about how this person treated previous employers and this will show what kind of an employee this person would be.

Truck driving is either in your blood or it's not...YOU either want to do it or you don't.

No company wants to hire someone that will bail under a load. Would you hire someone that would park a 100 grand tractor not counting the trailer or the load? Company could have lost the account plus not to mention the cost of recovering the truck. Bailing on a truck is a career killer. Doesn't matter why the person bailed. Most companies will not hire with this on DAC.

Thanks for the response. That makes sense, just looking around it seemed like it would be career ender. I've seen you folks mention USIS/DAC before also, would anyone have a few minutes to explain this?

You are welcome! DAC in my opinion is a flawed system. It is designed to be a report card for companies to view potential employees. There are companies that use it as a get even with you for leaving us etc. Some companies also have a rep for putting stuff on there that does not belong there or might not even be the driver they are reporting. It is a good idea to run your USIS {formerly DAC} report once a year to make sure it is correct. That way if something is there that should not be you can start the uphill battle to have it removed. Kind of like a credit report if that helps to explain it.

I hear that it's easier to get your credit cleaned up than your DAC!! Dont know, I always try 'to do it right!!' Bailing on a load is the biggest "No No" out there, other than the load & the rig! !:blah5:

I too have a clean DAC, but have dealt with drivers that had problems with it. A lot of them had accidents or incidents listed that they were never involved in.

Thank you. Just to be sure you understand, it was not me. I work as a system administrator, this friend is the guy that got me into the computer business. I was suprised when he decided to get into trucking, he has some clear boundaries drawn between his work and personal life. Something a truck driver shouldn't really have.

Co.s would rather have 'trained monkeys' driving that work for bananas (& cigs) than professional human beings.:protest: Looks like you & your fellow apes are gonna get MY job!!:munky2:They dont have DAC's for monkeys...so yall are safe!! JAM:icon_jokercolor:
