As long as you have been released from prison a total of 5 years and do not have certain disqualifying offenses as you had mentioned getting a hazmat will not be a problem.

    gypsey Thanks this.

Hi Schlemazel, Gypsey here. Just want to thank you for getting back to me so quickly on this issue. It has been a great releif to know we will be ok on the haz-mat.
Although now I have discovered another issue which I feel will disqualifiy me from working for Prime. So I guess I will be working a piss job and will take me until I'm 75 to get my bills paid off.
The last job I had I worked there for 4 yrs and They sent me on a run to Inidanapolis solo. I had 3 stops. 1 in youngstown oh at 4am. 2nd one in Columbus Oh at 8am and the last at Indianapolis at 2 in the afternoon. I called into dispatcher and told them I did not have enough hrs to get to Indianapolis by 2. He did not like it but he change my appointment time to 10 pm. My 10 hr break was not up until 9:15pm. Of course I could not make this time. When I was talking to the dispatcher I was still half asleep and so when I woke up to go I called the reciever to let them know what time I would be there. There was nobody at the office when I woke so I did the next best thing and called the reciever and explained to him that I couldn't leave until about 9:30pm. He said that would be ok because his guys would not be in until 11pm. I arrived there at 11:45pm. I had never been there before and when I did get to the street where I was to turn it was closed off and I had to find another way to get to where I had to go. At this point I could not find the place because it was a small place and was tucked along side of another building tucked away in the back. Anyway I finally found this place as I was talking to the Veitmaneze women on the phone. It was a Small produce place called D&W Produce.
Anyway when I got back I got fired!
They are appealing my unemployment. Another driver asked the safety women about me putting applications in for other jobs and she said she would give me a good reference. So when Prime sent her the work history report to fill out she told them I was terminated! What a back stapping #####!
So since I was told she was going to give me a good reference I put on my application when asked if I had been fired I said no. The recruitor called me on it today. Don't look very good. I am thinking about hiring a lawyer because they didn't have a reason to fire me in the first place. I'm broke! Depressed and about to loose everything I have worked for all my live.
How do these trucking companies get away with all this mean stuff they do to drivers. It's like they have no heart or compassion!
I honestly don't believe any trucking company would believe my story. So where Do I go from here? Its just not trucking its any job I apply for.:biggrin_25513:
Thanks to all you guys for all your help!

News flash the trucking companies are not doing it to you, YOU are doing it to YOURSELF. By your own admission you where fired and then LIED about it on your app. I fail to see how telling the truth made her a back stabbing ...... especially has the assurance that you got was second hand thus its not worth the paper that it was printed on. Now the fact that you consider her to be that for telling the truth speaks volumes about you personally. There is such a thing out there has morals and ethic's you might want to look into them has they would do you a world of good. And even if she did agree to give you a good reference she never agreed to lie for you and yes there is a difference tho I doubt you can see or understand it.

your criminal record is a lifelong thing. it does not go away. some companies will hire you if the offense is more than 5 years old, some will hire you if the offense is more than 10, and some won't hire you at all. it is a requirement they verify your employment for the last 10 years. some companies will overlook being fired by an outfit like prime while others won't. you just have to look.

Do some of you people know you're giving advice to people that posted over 2 years ago?

Lee Epling, you didn't do your homework so you're at their mercy. And to be honest with you I don't believe you stand a chance and you're going to pay alot of money for nothing. You should have checked things over before you signed anything. That information has been on this board for ages. As far as where you go from now is a gamble. You can try to work WITH the courts but the way you state your problem I feel you have no chance.

Gypsey you'll be lucky if you're hired by any company. Lying on the job application is one of the most damaging thing you can do to yourself. The companies will now look at you as a liar and will not trust you to even be around a truck. BIG BIG mistake. If you do get hired on you'd better take whatever they shovel out because you'll be lucky to have a job and I guarantee you it will be a job nobody wants.

I do hope that both of you guys prove me wrong.

All this information has been posted on this board for along time. It's unfortunate that people do not do a little research before they commit themselves to a debt or at least know what to expect. The information here comes from people that have gone through the same situations from both the applicant and the hiring side.

    gypsey Thanks this.

These trucking companies have to go back as far as 10 years on your work history OR 10 years on your driving history involving work?

I understand that you must list ALL driving jobs or jobs involoving driving that you ever had + list X ammount of years of past employment even the gaps etc.

Thats what I plan to do, if they ask for a flat past 10 years of work history I'm screwed because I never kept every single one of the places I've worked in the last 10 years.
