you should get a couple of those purty blue ones and hire a couple graduates from the swift truck driver school at memphis to drive em real cheap and slow. you can get your cut after swift gets theirs first
they are also interested in leasing trucks you bought with real money borrowed from real banks too!

The l/o I'm training with right now is trying to push becoming an l/o on me. And a mentor. I have seen his paychecks and being an l/o and a mentor he is making some serious money right now. Only problem was that he was in the hole for alot of money before he decided to become a mentor. I can see where it might have its advantages, but there are also alot of disadvantages to it. From what I have heard is that swift is starting to allow people to purchase trucks elsewhere as long as they are within a certain number of years. I think 5 years or newer, that would be the only option to actually make money. But I'm sure they would find things to charge you for so they make their money off of you.

thats nice they will allow you to buy a truck elsewhere.
are you sure you wanna sign away many years of your life to them.
you can get a great deal on trucks now that thousand of experienced drivers have got out.
i know after 2 1/2 years of living in a truck 27 days a month the newness wore off and on my day off the first company i walked into asked "when can you start?" now i go home every day and work dayshift ,never work sunday and volunteer to work saturdays. the ability to quit is real freedom

Been with swift for 8 years,,started solo,,then team,,then mentor done it all guess you can say......mentors make very good money if you can handle to be with yeah yeah i know kind of guys,,,leasing a new truck is simply working for the banks,,never get ahead with those kinds of payments,,,never ever......i'm an o/o...i have no payments..bought it cash for 18k....home every weekend ,,take home 2k x week after expenses......that's the way to go.....get yourself on a good line run or account and then only then,,,bring a truck from the outside into swift and if it passes a d.o.t. inspection,,it can be 50 years old and still good to go.

stay a company driver for at least 5 years if you still like it then buy a truck from a dealer, a cheap one, the mentors are making money cause the company pays extra for the work he doe's, why because lease operators can't make it on .90 per mile plus fuel surcharge that is income and you will pay the IRS taxs on that income plus road use tax and everything else to boot, don't forget to pay your self what .40 per mile, then the truck is at least .60 to .70 cents per mile to run, now your in a hole, you need 10 grand in the bank and a big down payment on that truck and you best better have 20 or 30 grand in the other bank account for your home cause you do not want live pay check to pay check ever, oopps you just blow a tire whats that 350 bucks now, NEVER RUCH into anything

You can get the basic numbers on Swifts program here.

As far as doing it or not? Do you have experience with PNL, ROI, business plans and operating budgets? ... know how to track your daily business objectives and have the ability to manage your DM/load planner to get you the miles you need to meet your plan?

If you didn't answer yes, you will fail, whether you lease, purchase a cheap truck or win that Peterbuilt they're giving away at Sky City. If you don't have the business acumen, all the driving experience in the world will do you no good.

But if you do understand business, you can figure out on your own what you need to do to succeed and how much actual driving experience you will need to make your plan work.
