Don't worry about it too much. Get it as smooth as you can, then try harder.

I'm constantly grossing 77k plus. It doesn't matter what gear I'm in, I get the "hops" from time to time. It's rather embarrasing :biggrin_25523:

A logical person would think to put it in a lower gear. But my truck isn't a person, and demands a higher gear some times.

Clutch wear, grease, overall gearing, or oil on the facing can effect all of this.

The training trucks are sound. You will enjoy them alot more than the truck your learning in now.

The training trucks when I was there a month ago were 1718 and 1725. We used I think it was 1649 and 1 other since we had such a big group. All the trucks had good clutches they had different feels but all worked well.

    Good luck

Yeah, what all these guys said....also, they are more concerned with you being able to get it from one gear to the next up and down, they weren't too concerned with the truck being jerky as they know the more you drive, the smoother you will get. I was in an auto shift for my first 3 months out (not my choice, all that was available), and just recently got into a manual shift. I was grinding and jerking the truck around like a noob for a few days, but am a lot better now. Practice, practice, practice....

Good thing about W/S Training is you get 1-on-1 time with the same truck (or very similar) you train on as the one you'll be driving!! Good luck!

    Whats up W/S Drivers!

    Get to work, Matt...

Is it just me, or does it seem that we have less time to get from pick up to delivery...maybe I'm just feeling old

Well..... it has taken a bit longer than I had wanted, funding for training fell through 3 times before actually getting it taken care of, one of my 5 daughters almost died for the 2nd time in 2 1/2 yrs requiring major surgery. My daughter is home starting her recovery time and I finished driving school on the 13th this week...... spoke with Sandy in MT and have a date for Aug 2....

I wonder what happened to all the Broyhill drivers W/S put out of a job? Are any of them at W/S Conover now? They were a few pretty good guys in that group. Just curious.
