People can and always have found justifications for fascism. That doesn't mean it isn't fascism or that it should be tolerated. In the 1940s the Nazis also had excellent justifications (in their minds) for the fascism they inflicted upon the world.
Copyrights were never intended to be perpetual and I don't believe they should be. If taxpayers are paying for copyright protection they should get something out of that investment of tax dollars. That return is public domain after a reasonable period of copyright protection. That is what was intended when copyrights were first established. The idea of perpetual copyright protection has been bought and paid for thanks to corrupt people in Congress and We The People should be demanding that this sort of nonsense stop immediately.
The Constitution expressly protects citizens from unreasonable search and seizure. The warrant-less searching of personal property without just cause and reasonable suspicion violates our Constitutional rights but again, there is always someone out there who thinks this sort of fascist violation of our rights is perfectly acceptable.
The Constitution does not allow for this sort of violation of personal property rights just because one isn't in their home. It's a right that should be sacrosanct at all times, including when at airports. Security checks for weapons and explosives is a perfectly reasonable measure to take in the name of public safety, but randomly searching personal property for possible illegally obtained intellectual property without a warrant or reasonable suspicion is not only unreasonable but is a flagrant violation of our civil rights as citizens.kajidono, lonewolf4ad and rich_t Thank this. -
To be searched for weapons or explosives is no different then being searched for illegal copyrighted materials. You give up the same rights.
It's a flagrant violation to searched at any time for anything with out a warrant or suspicion. But, we as people have decided under some circumstances we will give up our rights.

I don't fly commercial these days. I refuse to have my rights violated by the TSA in the name of security.
"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both."
Oh.... And don't confuse forced compliance with willful concession. There are in this society, certain rights that have been higly restricted or taken away that I haven't willingly conceeded to, yet am forced at government gun point to comply with. -
But you have given up the right....................Just because you don't fly doesn't mean you didn't give up the right.
Doesn't matter if it's forced or willful, you still gave up the rights.

Incorrect. That right was taken from me. I didn't "give it up", as you orignally posted. <paraphrasing>
There is a significant difference between the two concepts.Last edited: Jul 24, 2010
