Grabbing a reefer trailer, and hitting the road. This is a very small company I am gonna run with. Only two other drivers plus the owner himself. Mostly running to the NW, with no Cali. which is fine with me. Out and then right back home. Loads coming into KC OKcity and Wichita. Trying to keep my expectations pretty low on this new deal. That way when its a fail I wont get my feelings too hurt LOL.

I kinda thought you had already quit them already. I haven't seen you around Horizon lately, you still in the same truck?

You guys have an opinion on APU's? Thats gonna be my next big purchase.

Bad things is all I have heard and seen. Money to start company came from grand daddy. Owner worked for the two prior companies that had the contract (Banks and Savage) and then started his own by cutting the rate and buying trucks. I have talked to the drivers and they run their butts off and they pay is low. They haul carbon coke (nasty stuff) into the plant north of Enid and have cut the rate on other companies that were hauling for them. I have talked to the owner operators that were leased to another company that hauled in their for years and said their is no way they could haul for that rate and make it work. They do run new equipment but you look like a coal miner at the end of the day.

I seen the "H" on the door well I guess I seen you maybe twice this last week. I forgot your # at home or I would have called and seen where you was at. The first time you was right in front of me at the T/S in Hutch Wednesday morning, you were pulling off the fuel islands and I waved you on by because I was going to back into a spot. Then I seen you again the next morning I met you at the light in front of the old Freightliner dealer, I was going east and you west. Didn't know it was you at the time just remember the "H" on the door.

Corn harvest started down south today. I'm headed down tuesday. Tomorrow I've got 5 loads of rice left to haul which will close out last years crop. I gotta service these trucks when I get back. Rice harvest projected to start here late August.

At the truck stop I had a load of pipe on for Bushton, KS and then the next morning I had a load of sheet rock going to Hesston. Seen a lot of hoppers running around Hutch and the smaller towns. I put your number in my phone this time I will be watching if I am in the neighborhood.

Good luck on the new gig and I hope it works out for you. Well I hope you have better luck with a reefer then I did.

On the generators, I have a rigmaster and it works good but it has cost me some money to keep it working over the last three years also. I think I would go with a thermo king this time or maybe just not buy one at all. When fuel was in the $4.00 a gallon that is when I got mine. But you need to remember it will add 400 to 500lbs so if your hauling heavy you may not want one. Also fuel is a tax right off. :biggrin_2559:
