    Hey Ya’ll,

I’m not a truck driver. I need truck drivers. I need probably 4 28ft “pups” (flatbeds I think). I need to load those trucks with a completely deconstructed small house. NOT SECTIONS OF A HOUSE, but completely taken apart and on skids, wrapped and ready to load . .onto trucks in Lakeside, Michigan . .and then driven 800 miles to Black Springs, Arkansas, and unloaded. The reason I think I need 28ft trucks is because that’s the biggest that can access the deconstruction site in Lakeside, Michigan and that’s the biggest that can get up the hill in Black Springs,Arkansas. Everywhere I go on the internet I just see trucker jobs . .no truckers. I talk to "logistics Companies and you'd think I was trying to move Shamu the Killer Whale. This should not be so big a deal.
Could you forward this information to someone who can help me?

Where are you going to find a 28' flatbed trailer?

How about those hay wagons out west? They are pretty short.

But do you think the OP is willing to pay for those wagons to deadhead to Michigan? Haul the load to Arkansas? Then deadhead back to Cali?

The only reason why he's posting this is because he wants to load(s) moved for free. He was probably already quoted a freight price & refuses to pay it because he's too cheap or doesn't have the money. So why not go to the stupid truckers himself & try to get it moved for free?

I would look in your local yellow pages in the transportation section.

    Redd,

I'm not looking for anything for free and I don't think truckers are stupid or I wouldn't have joined this blog. What I'm saying is when I talk to some guy or gal in an office, they don't seem to know their butt from a hole in the ground. So I thought I'd ask the people who actually do the work how I hire you. Free don't get me nothin' brother. I just don't know about trucking. It's not my business. Besides, I suppose I'd be looking for someone already in the Michigan/Indiana/Illinois area. If your in Cali, you're right, I probably can't make it worth your time.

Well I'm gonna throw my two cents in here..... 1st of all there are 28' flats all over the place BUT they are usually configured as doubles and tend to be more around agricultural areas and mining areas than just hanging out in the general flatbed market.

The only way that I can see this working is to hire a company, maybe like a lumber company that has bobtail flats and can load at the site then, take it to a better location, load it on a bigger truck and repeat the process at the other end.

maybe? I dunno ... jes' thinkin' out loud.

thats the best way to do it. I have something similar and we had manage kind of like that as the site was too small for a big flatbed to get into. lots of trouble but its doable

yeah.... the more I think about it, the OP seems to have three different problems. 1st getting the house out of the "deconstruction" site, 2nd transporting it to the "reconstruction" site and, 3d getting it into the new site.

It ought to be doable but it's gonna require some finesse and planning and, prolly some $$$$.

Since it's located in a difficult area, if it were me, I'd be talking to lumber companies, logging companies and construction companies to see what they could do. I don't think that logistics or freight companies are gonna have a clue.

You can load pallets on to a van trailer (28') either with a pallet jack or, if the loader is real sharp, just straight on. Load one then the next one pushes the first one in further etc. All LTL carriers (ABF, Roadway/Yellow, and others) have 28' van trailers.
