Military service is entirely a different thing all together. If a man is married he has no business joining the Military either, without the wife consent.

You think wife has nothing to say about the truck driving?

I have been married for almost 33 years.

Some of those years, I worked full time and went to school at night full time. Others I worked a second job.

We are mature adults and understand what must be done.

Maybe, you need to consider that in your future choices.

Well I suppose I would have to agree to disagree at this point. Without my family there is no reason for any of the rest. Is I guess its opinion as I have stated several times.

Big Rigger hit the nail on the head when he said Conway likes the new drivers and gave the reason for it. How does one not get sucked in head first? They exhaust the drivers, as a new employee one is told by other drivers, say goodbye to your life.
I think I am seeing the writing on the wall of some brain washing tactics going on.
We know the isolation is already a factor. In fact right now things are becoming crystal clear as I am writing this.
Let me think for a bit, be back in a bit.

my wife put up with me being gone for years. we are now grandparents, and just today i decided to sell my truck. at age 58, i'm finally done with it.
maybe i didn't always expressed to my wife my deep appreciation for her regarding her ability to keep things together at home, as she raised our kids, and took care of me when i did get home, but i always appreciated her. maybe i should have been home more to spend time with my kids, but they ate, had medical care, and both grew up with a helluva lot better standard of living than we had. both are doing quite well. i thought of them often while i was making a living for us all. i listened on the phone while my wife told me of the things that were going on at home, and i wanted to be there, i really did, but there was bills, and i understood what i needed to do to ge them paid.

i've fought traffic in chicago, blizzards in the plains, ice through the mountains, slept with one eye open in seedy truck stops, ate horrible food on the run, dealt with cops that had the i.q. of an ice cube, been lied to by dispatchers and customers and blamed for everything under the sun. i've drove to the very end of my physical ability, then laid in the bunk too exhausted to sleep.

it was worth it though. my family and my wife never stopped appreciating what i did. never. i appreciated the sacrifice my wife made for me, as she appreciated mine. she watched me age, and understood what, other than time, was doing that to me.

i guess you guys are in a different kind of relationship. too bad, really. to bad he will probably end up being blindsided by this, and the reward for being too hardworking is to lose his family. yeah, his company is probably killing him, but his strength and reward is at home. well, it's supposed to be anyway. i suspect things became crystal clear a long time ago, it's just sinking in now. at a time where everyone is scared to death of what may happen in the future with the economy, and decent jobs are harder and harder to find, you have a doubt.

tonight he's probably working, and has no clue you have a doubt. am i right?

    Car-

Does the company handbook state when company works in hometime? My husband worked for US Xpress and they tried every 2 weeks not to get him home for his scheduled hometime. They acted like it just could not be done , which is total bs.

Look at your husbands handbook and if you do not have one you can probably research it on their website. I read my husbands and it stated hometime every 14 days. Since it was stated in their handbook that is considered a implied employment contract legally and they should do whatever they have to regarding following their handbook as well as the employee.

Also you can look up the job qualifications and responsibilites of Fleet Managers. My husband's FM was a total jerk and lied out his butt every time they talked. I found a ad that US Xpress was looking for a FM and read the job description and one of the duties was to "make sure driver was happy and scheduled hometime was met."

So that told me it was his FM giving him a hard time with getting him home on time and not the company because FM's get a cut or a bonus on how many drivers they can keep on the road working. Also US Xpress FM's are required to have so many trucks on the road whether there is work or not. Just in case they need you ....BS. That explained why sometimes companies just leave you stranded with waiting for loads, basically you are on call but not getting paid for it.

Now it is up to the driver to make them follow through because they will lie to you and go out of their way to make it hard and a pain but don't back down and they will learn your one of those persistant drivers.

US Xpress really tried putting the screws to us at the beginning with saying we just can't get you home on your scheduled time off. My husband said fine I am leaving my truck at the Dallas Terminal and my wife is coming to get me. He told them he had been out 14 days and if they cannot follow through he was done. This was during his 2nd week with this company.

They called him back in 10 min and what do you know they found a load right by where he was and it was going to OKC . Funny considering we live there.

We have been married for 17 years and have a 12yr and 16 yr old and my husband drove for US Xpress for 2 years and finally got out . He is driving for Budweiser locally here in Oklahoma and is home every night. He is on a dedicated route M-F.

How long has your husband been driving? Do you work?
Is he staying out longer to make more money?

My husband would stay out for 3 weeks to make extra money around XMAS and before Spring break because then he would take a week off.

It is hard on the husband's also. When mine would get within a state distance from Oklahoma I would drive to stay with him in the truck for a night or so. It was fun for me because it was different but about the 4th time I did this I was like god this is kind of crazy living in a truck.

    Sorry for the book.

I know how you are feeling and I used get mad and cry because I was so lonely ,,,then I found myself again and relized I can handle anything on my own and grew to like my independence , my laying by the pool , taking the kids out on the boat for the day .
Now he is home everynight and I am trying to get used to him being here.LOL

The first week he DROVE ME CRAZY!!!!
