Yeppers, it's hard for everyone in this economy. And LS won't tell you when it's slow. That's for sure. And they made all that money by taking it right off the top.

HEHEHE.........At LANDSTAR most of new people will file for capt. 7 sooner then later.I said that long time ago.Smart O/O (I am talking about real O/O not about those kissing butts)will not haul long distance and specialy dealing with agents and brokers.Best and steady money to be maid are made pulling regionaly and local. In this economy,at this time......... hauling long distance????????don't think so.Best part when a stupid agent make funn of the O/O and that its normal part of business at L/S ########,ahheheheheeh.....yeap..........its funny now,but was sucks when I was looking days at the time at that stupid load board from 6 am until 5 pm for nothing. How stupid I was,but..........again that but.........not anymore ever.I am telling everyone new,do not waist your life at L/S.Your quality of life its more important, and regarding money at L/S crapy co? NO way to make real money at LANDSTAR piece of crap brokerage co.

What astatement.
While not every one gets filthy rich there are those that enjoy a very good living at LS.
If frustrated me to no end that I couldn't break into it when I was leased.
But it is there. -

When I left the man I worked for in 93 after working for him since I was 15, I went OTR for an Owner/Operator who was also a Landstar Agent, He told his Drivers all 10 of us, YOU will run this truck like you own it, He paid Percentage when we were in his Area We called him just like any other Landstar Leased Owner/Operator. IT was a great learning experience first 6 months I made money NOT tons of it. When I finally learned the Agents, where to get loads from I had no issues making Money. I might not have owned the Truck But I was directly responsible for my Income making Percentage of the Gross. Landstar is not for anyone who NEEDS a Dispatcher. If you do not know how to get your own freight, read a load Board, or Manage your Money then LandStar is not for you.
If you can run your own Business, Read a Load Board, And Dispatch yourself then you will make money with Landstar, you will learn how to get T/L and LTL with Landstar, There is plenty of Money with them you just have to have the Aptitude and Attitude to get the job Done Right. LandStar will not hold your hand and SHOW you HOW to RUN YOUR Business.
If you fail with LandStar then you would fail with your Own Authority, and Miserably.

DocHoliday, Well said. I have not been at L/S long (2+years) and I knew how the system worked before leasing on and still the learning curve was huge. Now things are better but, I know that I'm still not hauling the best paying freight because I don't know all the agents and the freight they haul. The last load I hauled payed $15,000 and wasn't posted. A BCO called me and told me who to call. Thats how it works, and it takes time.
blacklabel Thanks this. -
You 2 guys sound like 2 agents working for L/S crapy co.Heheheheh,I don't buy it.
