the lady above speaks well. Hold them to their rules. My fiance rode with me for 3 weeks recently. She is a school teacher. She works 70hrs a week, doesn't get paid for it.

She realized my job is pretty much 24/7. It can engulf you if you let it.

I'vw been told you can bank your off days.

Some DM's lie like used car salesmen. They all lie to some degree. If it is a problem? Go through the chain of command.

I am out here because this is where the work is. There isn't much glamour out here. I keep to myself pretty much. It is a different life for sure. I am close to 6 months. My fiance knows it maybe 6 more. I have lots to do at home. She is a very strong woman. She knows I am not out here screwing around. It was hard at first. He just needs to keep his priorities straight. The support system at home is my "rock."

Knee jerk reactions is what you don't need.

What happens if your a driver before you marry her? When you go to work she is free leave? IMO if she leaves because your OTR and working you have not lost much. Many folks worry about what their spouse is doing when their away. If you have to worry about him/her its time to move on because there is no trust.

When I was at CFI/CONWAY Truckload I was living in their truck as do at least 80% of their fleet. All I would ask is if they could get me home the first weekend of each month so I could go to church. They couldn't get it done. They say you have to be out ten days before you ask for time off.You give them the day you want off and they have five days either side before or after your day to get you home.Needless to say it is extremely hard to schedule a appointment under these rules and they know it and don't care.I would guess most of their turnover is due to this issue then next would be drivers that get fired after someone has snitched about a minor thing.CFI is the only company I ever worked for were they warn you about company snitches during the orientation.

My Second Wife ( I am with #4 now) knew when we got married I was a trucker, there was no Doubt she knew it, She worked at the FUEL Desk at a truck stop, saw her every week for about 6 months before I got the courage to ask her out, when I did HER Dad (who happened to be the Manager) turned around looked me in the Eyes and Said no way in hell. I did not give up, Spent the next 6 months convincing him to let me take her to dinner. Finally he did, 2 years later we got married I did the same run for 3 years, When we got Married she told me 3 months into it, YOU have to come off the ROAD I want to start a Family. Well I told her once, and The second time she became EX #2. 3 did something similar but she was a Driver when I met her, she got off the road gave the Ultimatum which I do not deal real well with, and SHE is #3.. Now Before anyone gets on a Band wagon, I had NO Children with any of these Women, My Son is from My First Marriage and Trucking allows me to See him every two weeks or more. His Mother is a good woman and she is thankful I am A Trucker and I am able to see my Son, He has been on the Road with me when school is out, He will Graduate this coming year, He made the mistake of telling me he wanted to Drive a truck, I have no issues with me being a Trucker, but MY son is Smarter than I am and Has the chance to goto College Thanks to me being a trucker. And his little arse will go if it is the last thing I have to do in my life.

Well it's 11:08 pm and I thought I would make you laugh.

If you heard a noise just now, it was just me out in the drive way doing a little forward and reverse of my cell phone. :biggrin_25510:DROPPED CALLS DRIVE ME NUTS!
This week especially any dropped phone call just P&*(s me off!

So it's like this, I wasted an hour doing my hair today. Thus big hair. ha
Painted my nails with my new nail polish. Found my favorite perfume. Didn't go swimming. Just waiting for hubby to come home. What a waste, he won't be home to see it now.....
So I might as well bug you guys.

Doc, I think I hear a band wagon off in the near distance! ha What were you thinking?? Jeepers, doesn't your bottom ever get tired? You must be in a permanent L shape. See I don't ride well for very long. I would sooner drive, but no way would I ever have the yearning to drive all day long.

I have read your replies more than a few times even today. Even though it wasn't the best day, they sure helped.

My radio to turn it on to AM you have to switch the button past FM first.
Well this morning, the button kind of lodged on FM and all I hear is this " Your a Crazy B***tch' then it switched over to AM. I was practically stunned that I would get this kind of a sign!:biggrin_255: laughing!!

I need a way to make my quota of posts, as I would like to talk to some of the wives that have responded here.

If you were a OTR driver to start with its a whole different deal. Your not changing your life style.

Its the same thing if you marry a fat lady, you can't complain, But if she was trim and into sports, and then turns into a couch spud, then you are within our rights to demand she takes the weight off. Same is true regardless of gender.

Men/women have a choice of careers, and since you can make as good if not better money driving local, then your are actually leaving them.

When either party makes a choice that has that radical of affect on the life style you leave, you have the right to reevaluate the situation.
