I got a question, I really am looking at this company very, very hard and I like what I see. But I wanted to know how many of you TMC employee's or X employee's, were home on the regular if you got a wife and kids. That's is my one hold back (I love my family), I was wondering is there any way to play the system to be home more, but still do something like 200 to 300 miles runs everyday with the possibility of sleeping in the truck once to twice a week. I know some will say look for a local job if I want that, but I wanted to test the water here first to see if this would even be possible first.
And since I live only an hour away from the columbia training center, can I just drive home everyday, or are they gonna make me stay in a hotel?
how close can you get.

There is no way you will be able to spend a night or two a week in the truck, for the most part you spend a night or two at home a week. I had more home time than I cared for when I drove for them. Not sure about staying at home during orientation, my guess would be they will be fine with it because they won't have to set a bed aside for you.

The Columbia SC Terminal is no longer a training center. TMC does all training at DesMoines, Ia Terminal. With TMC you are usually out from Sunday afternoon till late Friday or early Saturday morning. To get on a dedicated run there must be a dedicated run in your area. Plus I believe you must be with TMC for at least 1 year with no Safety, Driving issues before you can be considered for a Dedicated run. With the dedicated runs either someone has to retire or quit which is few and far between. Sounds like you need to look for something local since you want to be home.

does TMC have the freight available on the weekends where you can stay busy and run say 1,000 miles over the 2 days you usually have off?
-
well if you run hard during the week you wont have the hours to run 1000 miles on the weekend unless you dont run the miles during the week. by the time you drive Sun-Sat you are out of hours. That is if you run legal which TMC requires and I feel if you want to run illegal you dont need to be on the roads.
-
Nope I am all about running legal but I was just wondering about the loads and how many you can do and also the miles per week. I am trying to get on somewhere that I can take home atleast 700 a week
-
Depending on your tax bracket its not to hard to take home $700 a week and be home on the weekends. If you stay out you can usually get an extra 2 loads in a month or so. Mostly it depends on your FM. Pay kinda goes up and down depending on the week and where you are in the Country.

Anything on Tmc I should know about im thinking of leaving Roehl to go to Tmc any tips or advice or information would be great I hear a lot of bad things from disgruntle employees and just want an honest opinion
-
I dare you to find any company that doesnt have disgruntle employees. All companies have there good and bad qirks. TMC wants things their way. If you cant handle it dont work for them. TMC works for me they may not work for you. Its all up to you to find a company that you can work for.

Im prior service so im sure it would be OK you line haul or long haul? Miles pretty decent?
