Swift is like most large trucking co. They have alot going on, and some drivers are happy, while others are not. They have the freight, and will keep you away from home if you let them, just like most large trucking companies. Somer drivers do make good money at Swift and some make less... So you have to find out what you want to do with your CDL....stay with large co., become an O/O, or work for a small company. Miles= dollars

Wow; talk about going off topic a tad, glad someone made a little essay to get back on topic.

It all comes to cost, and well, over-seas workers are cheaper, they work for less, (or work for the same, but twice as hard).
English speaking drivers, indian, or mexican speaking dock-hands.. ive only learn a few works in Punjab (enough to get a laugh, and to be friendly); no mexicans to learn the lingo, so I guess if you could learn to say; hello, alright(okay).. should be okay :p

Having attended the Fox Valley Tech School 10 week CDL A course in Appleton Wisc and seeing the Swift vans come p/u their drivers at the 3 week period, I am not impressed with Swift, it's drivers OR it's management. Not saying that I'm all that and a bag of chips now, I've made mistakes too but DANG y'all!! Having seen the dumb stuff on the road, live and in person, like watching a Swift driver run a 4 wheeler into the median just west of Nashville to seeing another driver buried to his axles at the Cally state line where he pulled off the shoulder into a blind pool of water, to watching a driver take exactly 62 pull-ups to back into a hole at the truck stop and a myriad of other things too numerous to list, I can safely say I am proud to NOT drive for them. PS: deny this, Swifty McSwiftenhiemer! -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TXTZoITrypY or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=323sFUBhaVU just for openers. Thanks for doing your part in raising insurance rates drivers !

You'll no doubt continue to see Swift drivers doing things that are dumb. But, think of this....Swift has 20,000+ power units. It's bound to happen. Also, Swift is a training company. The majority of their drivers are rookies and, as such, don't always make the best decisions nor do they have the skills of those fortunate drivers who came from the womb with the ability to operate a large commercial vehicle as soon as they breathed their first independent breath from momma.

I've just finished my OTR training with a Swift mentor. In those 6 weeks I've seen hundreds, if not thousands of Swift trucks, and I can say with certainty that, by and large, the Swifties are doing OK and Swift's SAFESTAT scores back that up.

Olbie, first off congrats on making it to solo! I also want to add that in my opinion have turned around( at least on this site) a very negative attitude. Thank you for that! You started and now have done it, in case your not aware....it means the world to us. You are what we (newbies) need more of!

You simply have what it takes.........hey? You like Tina Turner?
Simply the Best, anyways......you do yourself and Swift justice.

Just PAY your AMERICAN drivers a living wage and treat them right and I am sure they will work hard for your company!

they dont have nearly that many. they did when i started in 2008, but they've returned and cancelled orders on newer trucks. i'd say their truck count is closer to 15k with about 20k drivers.

As far as the videos go....i can go on YouTube and come up with just as many 'dumb truck driver' videos. But they are all the same. Some looozer sits in his truck videoing another driver having difficulty backing, sliding their tandems, etc...but yet aren't professional enough to get out and offer their help. they'd rather sit there, video it, and join in with the crowd on the CB making fun of the driver...when they themselves probably have only been driving for a year or less.

Does swift have some 'tards driving for them? they sure do. So does Hunt, Schneider, Smith, TMC, and you name it.....every company has bad apples.
