Don't limit your opportunities to companies with just APUs. You could find a company that has APUs, but there usually is a trade-off (lower pay, tough penalties for over idling the engine WITH an APU, etc.)
But then again, there are always day jobs whenever the OTR thing starts becoming old (day cabs, much more home time, better pay believe it or not, etc.) Work in a day cab, and over-idling will become the thing of the past. Then your doctorate degree in APU technology will be rendered obsolete! Man, 8 years of APU school wasted for nothing!![]()

All I can say is they sound like they run things the same at Knight as they do the flagship company Swift who, if you didn't know pwns Knight. Sorry to hear your troubles. I feel for you. Its sad that these companies don't care for the driver as they claim they do. No company will ever care for a driver, its all about the money, not how much we can get you home, or you have issues with a death, its to them, just drive. We need that truck making us money. Go see my recent post Swift: My Final Check here on the boards, it explains how i was messed out of my final check. Figures... Best of luck to you.

Probably be a better chance of getting an older model as most fleets have only started to order units with any kind of auxiliary climate systems.
They're not widespread yet ... and the co's are in no hurry to upgrade fleets just yet - not in this economy.MaximumTexas Thanks this. -
You do realize that Knight is owned by the Flagship corp, Swift Trans right? That's part of why your having issues at Knight. They are run almost the same way from what others have told me over the years.

Oh and for the record:
Swift is at the top... then Knight, followed by Central Frt lines, Central Ref Services and bought out MS Carriers, where some 2,000 people left whehn Swift bought them, don't know the who truth on that deal, but that's what I heard and Swift owns 13% stock in Warner (don't have any idea if there's truth to that either) and lastly, about 2.5 years ago, Swift was in the process of buying Covant and US express for the contracts, then it fell off the radar and went stelth. Why? We seem to think cause Swift pulled back out of the deal, but no one is talking. Swift has been known to buy up companies for only the contracts... so it wouldn't surprise me who they owned.

Squire seems decent for a driver to finish their training. Too bad I didn't have any info on them, otherwise I would have avoided Big Blue. -
