love the posts guys. hey chralb, i had a suspension on my DAC last year and that is what was stopping me from getting hired. i'll give you a bit of background. i was going to c1 in little rock and supposed to get hired by usa. after 4 days at c1 usa decided not to pay for my school. After leaving i called my workforce and develpment and they paid for me to go to a local tech school. I emailed, called and wrote letters to USA and they never had the decency to call or write and tell my why they didn't hire me. So while is was going to school i was reading everything on here and decided to apply with Shaffer. They denied me too but they had the decency to tell me that according to my MVR i had a 4 month suspension last year for failure to pay a ticket. i remember being worried that my license may have been suspended for a day or two. So needless to say i was crushed cuz i thought that was it and it was gooing to take 2 years for that to go beyond the 3 year mark. Because i don't remember my license being suspended for that long i called the department of safety and to my relief it turned out to be an error. someone put in the computer my license was susspeended two days after i paid my ticket. So waht i'm saying with that is a suspension on your record for whatever reason if over 30 days will keep companies from hiring you. Fortunatley for me i went to the dept of safety and got a new mvr without the suspension listed and wrote a letter to the recruiter at shaffer and as of last week they are hiring me provided i pass pretrip , skills and road test on saturday. Funny how it all worked out though, if that mistake wasn't on there i would have been a USA employee right now. I will always say they are a piece of crap company because they didn't have the decency to call me back after my multiple attempts to reach them. so it has taken me 6 months longer doing it this way but i should be on board with shaffer by the end of the month. anyway, love y'alls posts

Thanks for the story and kind words but I think you meant this for ORG perhaps? My license has never been suspended. :biggrin_255:

    Now do you believe me?:biggrin_25523:

They're conducting a poll to determine how many applicants look good wrapped in orange?

I wish I'da paid more attention in English class. If I recall, ...... "been received" shows past tense and "is being" (reviewed) shows present tense and indicates action or activity is currently taking place.

Was it a form letter or made from scratch?
Made from scratch would indicate interest, and a good sign that
your application by-passed the circular file and remains un-shredded.
If you were informed that they were trying to get a hold of you, I'd say that's encouraging. Not likely Schneider would go that far to inform an applicant that they're not interested, or to tell Pumpkin jokes.

    Ya reckon. :biggrin_25524::biggrin_25525:
    That makes you a celebrity.
Expect to hear from Leno and Letterman. If they both want you to appear on their show on the same date, be prepared to decide which one.
Look at the view from this angle, -------> A truckin' company with a less than stellar reputation when it comes to their hiring criteria, --- they'll hire ANYbody who can successfully fog a mirror when held under their nose, and has a detectable pulse.
How much of a stretch of the imagination is it to figure that includes office workers as well?
What does it say about a company when said company rejects the cream of the crop?
Yeah, that's what I'm thinkin' too.

    Now you're catchin' on. :biggrin_25525:
    Ahhhhh -- so.
    Very wise choice, Grasshopper.
    You learn well.

Companies like Schneider like hearing confidence.
What they don't like are applicants that himmm-hawww and answer questions with 'I guess so', 'maybe', 'I'm not sure', 'I don't know', 'who knows', and/or 'I never thought about that'. Schneider is, or was when I drove for them, big on communication. The better your communication skills/abilities are, the better your chances are that they'll want to continue communicating with you into the future.
    ShuX HowdY!
    Why stop there?
Take it all the way to smug, and don't stop 'till you
    get to gloat.
If anyone comments about the high-horse you're ridin', tell 'em
to eat their heart out. Obviously they've never felt the thrill of success, just the agony of defeat.
    Bummers. :sad1:

    I know Who's on second.
    Ain't what on third?
    You're at bat.
    The wind-up ----
    The pitch -----
    Hey batter, batter, batter, ----
    SWING! :biggrin_255:
    Be careful, ORG.
Don't give me too much credit. :biggrin_25512:
It goes to my head and causes it to lean a tad to one side.
    :biggrin_2552::toothy3:
I'd put that *chance* at better than average. :yes2557:

Have you given any thought to bed-buggin'?
    What's a bed-bugger?

    A mover.
    Household mover.
    United
    Allied
    Grabel
    Mayflower

    Etc.

    Now see?
That's the problem with the internet.
Here, we're all just hieroglyphics on a contrasting background, ---

ergo we all look alike. :laughing-guffaw:

    OH!
    One last thought here.
You are a Green Bay Packers fan, .......... right?
Folks in Titletown love their Packers, ..........
probably love those who love the Packers too.
A fan in need is a fan indeed.
    GO PACKERS!

    Aftershock,

I think you're right about Schneider, they are looking to get some more orange folks. That's a good think because if I do say so myself (and I do), I like sexy in orange.

Anyway, just an update for everybody. I first called Schneider (surprise, surprise) and what happens is they make you apply on a job per job basis. So I did my search under Monroe County, PA and chose a job that I was interested in. When I talked to the recruiter, she said the job wasn't in my area and got me in contact with a regional recruiter. I left a message for him, and I'll be waiting for his call.

Since my Schneider application is pending, I called Swift and they approved my application. Should I choose to stick with them, I would have an orientation for this Monday. It feels good to get another job acceptance, but they really really get addictive and now I need my next fix.

Tomorrow I'll follow up with Schneider again if I don't hear from them, and also follow up with my applications I have in with Shaffer and Marten, both of which were done on Friday. I might just hear from these companies today, but I always allow them a day to process which seems to work out.

So my current pre-hires are with Western Express and Swift, Schneider is showing an interest in me, and my applications with Shaffer and Marten are processing.

If I got hired by Shaffer I'd be so happy I'd wear a tiara that's two sizes too small...

Alright guys! Sounds like you are starting to pick up some steam. Keep rollin! Even though you are starting to get pre-hires, keep looking and keep applying to other companies. Aftershock had some really good info again! I believe he touched on the "DAC blemishing" by these mega-carriers. That is why you need to be careful. He also had a really excellent point as to why these companies hire newbies at an alarming rate! They make more money by constantly turning over new drivers. Is that what you are aiming for? No, I know, of course not! Keep digging through and find these companies that aren't advertising as much. Have any of you tried Windy Hill? Very family oriented company that will keep you busy and leave you alone to do your job. Since they are a smaller company they tend to overlook blemished records! They are out of Wisconsin and also have a terminal in Fl. Keep chuggin guys!

Thanks for the encouragement, chra! But alas, that isn't where the story should end. Make that phone call! I know it's nerve racking, but you have to know one way or the other.

I'm not quitting now. However, if I don't get a better offer, I'm going to that orientation with Swift. I'm going to try my best to get in with either Shaffer or Schneider instead though.

I'll make the call(s) for sure buddy. Nothing is ending here in my view and won't until I'm ready to retire from trucking...LOL I have every intention of starting a thread once hired to track my experiences out there on the road. So many here have been so helpful and I'd like to do the same.

Now is the time to pick up the pace. I was simply giving you your do as like chompi said, you're picking up steam brother!! My water hasn't started to boil quite yet as I'm dealing with a little wet wood in the old fire. But rest assured, I haven't run out of matches!! LOL
