You will do it, I've seen worse records lately !!!!

And hauling freight isn't all it's cranked up to be.

I saw a kid recently, record worse than yours, hired by a company that sweeps (by vacum truck) parking lots. He's making more money that alot of the OTR drivers, and sleeps in His own bed everynight !!!!!!!!!

    Persistance !!!!!!!!

That's what they invented viagr.....opps, that's right, I'm posting on the trucking forums, sorry.

Seriously, that's the spirit. Your TEMPORARILY down, but not out of options. Please let me know when you give them the call, I'd like to continue to be a pain in the hind end, as always. How else am I going to have the chance to interupt you all of the time?

So now, regardless of the company I go with, I need to get myself prepared. By this Monday I will be going with *some* company, and I'm not one to be ill-prepared, if you haven't gathered that already. With a combination of what I already have, and one I recently purchased from LLBean (best casual clothing company/outdoor store ever), I have the following:
    OpenRoadGuy Packing List
    4 Short Sleeve Black T-Shirts
9 Short Sleeve White T-Shirts (I like to use them as undershirts and reuse my regular shirts when possible)
    2 Short Sleeve Grey T-Shirts
    2 Short Sleeve Red T-Shirts
2 Long Sleeved LL Bean Work Shirts
2 Long Sleeved LL Bean Flannel Shirts
1 Flannel-lined LL Bean Work Sweat Shirt with full zipper
1 Flannel-lined LL Bean Work Coat good to -15 degree weather
2 Camo Large LL Bean Duffel Bags
    1 Camo Laptop Case
1 X-Long Twin Flannel Fitted Sheet (LL Bean of course)
    1 Twin Flannel Top Sheet
1 Extra Warm Down Comforter (Guess from where)
    1 Extra Warm Cotton Blanket
1 Eureka (hey some things are better then LL Bean) Flannel-lined Sleeping Bag good to -15 degrees
1 pair Wicked Good LL Bean Slippers (Flannel Lined)
1 pair of Gortex Lined LL Bean Work boots
1 pair of Top Sider boat shoes (to be worn in the truck, I'll never take them outside)
1 pair Bostonian Leather boots (for regular wear i.e. to walk around the truck stop, etc)
2 pairs of work gloves (one pair from LL Bean)
    1 Winter Hat (guess where)
1 pair of winter gloves (Walmart, believe it or not)
127 DVDs (in a compact DVD case)
1 Dell Laptop (how else will I tell about my adventures?)
1 Steel Toolbox with tools (even Chralb would be impressed with this thing)
1 Extra Bright LED Flashlight (same used by the cops) with rechargable lithium batteries
    Social Security Card
Class A CDL Driver's License (there's a rumor that that's important to truck drivers or something along those lines)
    Birth Certificate
    Personal Important Papers
    Can Opener
    Scissors
    Pens
    Pencils
2011 WIRE BOUND Motor Carrier's Atlas
My truck reference book from school (it's a great book, and I'm sure I'll need to refer to it for general information)
3 200 page notebooks for notes
    A lot of books
1 Collapsible Lounge Chair (already own one perfect for trucking) so I can sit and read outdoors and enjoy this beautiful country (I didn't name myself OpenRoadGuy for nothing, ya know)

I'm sure there are other things I have forgotten. I plan to only bring a fraction on when I go for training for 4 to 6 weeks (depending on the company I go with). Then I plan to use the trunk of my car as a locker to get supplies as I need them. When I get my truck I'll bring every one of these objects on with me. I shouldn't have a problem loading this up and being very well organized.

    What do you think?

    AfterShock and Skydivedavec Thank this.

    Oh yeah, I almost forgot....
My iPod is filled with 24,934 songs which I could play for 77.4 days and not hear the same thing. I also have access to 3,000 downloadable audio books which I can access at my leisure. It would take me about 2 *years* of continual listening to listen to all of them. I think I should keep myself fairly engaged after a long day on the road.

If you can't tell, I simply can't wait until I get my own truck stocked up with all of my stuff, and I can follow my own destiny and provide for my family.

I had such a great time in school and training. Wish I could go back and do it over again sometimes. Some of the best moments are going to be meeting new people and sometimes when you are hanging around your companies terminal shooting the crap with other drivers and listening to all their stories. I miss those days! Also seeing the country and discovering all the new places for the first time. Driving through La traffic lookin at boobies! (hope I can say that) I meant small penguin like birds, right? Anyway you are going to have a blast. May seem a bit nerve racking at times but its all good experiences and memories.
