Hello! I´m from Sweden so you have to forgive me for my spelling.

I´m not trying to be an ###, I´m just courious. Remember that when you read.

When I see American trucks on Tv I can hardly tell if its a 70´s or a 00´s truck. They look the same.
    Gauges everywhere.
    Unsynchronized gearboxes.
    No heating. (Ice road truckers)
    Poor brakes.
    Load as h**l.
They are ridiculously long. (road trucks)

Is it really that bad or does the Tv fool us?

I understand that you dont want to drive a short european truck.
We have them short because of our length regulations. 24 meters over all length. (sometimes 25,25 meters)

Scania did make the Longline. they don´t do it any more because hardly anyone bought it. you can drive it in Sweden and Finland (with a short 14m trailer) but not international.

    I drive the 8 axle Scania R 500 btw.

American trucks look good, I agree on that. If I was a millionarie I would buy one.
It would be hard to register it in Sweden though. It´s something with the safety of the cab and so on. In sweden they crashtest everything.. :)

What do you drive and why?

DO NOT FOR A SECOND believe that fake axx show Ice Road is what trucking is about here.

It might be for the route they run but not the lower 48. That show has so much fake junk on it I can barely stand to watch it.

Your first mistake was believing what you saw on American TV.....

As for your questions, I only drove one Volvo and that was in the mid 90's it was fast but not for me...I prefer a long a wheel base and long hood given the choice, the looks of the Volvo, Scania, and Mercedes don't do it for me..

I drive a 379 Peterbilt (see my sig) because thats my choice..

Many many variables there, depends on truck weight, type of trailer and then trailer weight.

If you have a really lite weight set up some folks can get 50,000 lbs in payload.
A heavy set up.... 40,000 lbs.
