Today I watch this Swith driver get out of his truck to do a walk around and it was amazing. He was dressed in cut offs and bare footed while he walked to check I don't know what. He had no tire thumper just his fist and he only tapped the outside tire. He didn't look under the truck or trailer and he never even check one item on the tractor or trailer . A woman was driving so after he strolled and tapped a couple of outside tires on the trailer he walked around and got in the passenger side. This are happened in a service stop on a parkway so they had been there awhile but that makes no difference. Public imagine and safety I guess are no concern for these two swift drivers. You Swifties say what you what but that really knocks your creditability down.

If I had only one incident with this company I'd let it go and say it was the drivers but this is not the first dance. Not too long along I was on the interstate in my car and going along around 70mph until I came up to a back up. There were about ten cars in the far left lane trying to get by this Swift truck as he was passing another Swith truck. I know it took over 10 mintutes to do and when I got up to look at the driver there he was in his own little world talking on the cell phone. Just excatly what does a "Mentor" teach? To the good drivers that work at Swift, do your time and move on to a better company.

well it's not just Swift by any means there driver. I have never driven for Swift but when I was at the driver mills Werner and " step above" Celadon I saw the same kinda crap. And I thought I looked bad if I hadn't shaved. At least I wore clean jeans, a dark respectable t-shirt or button down and ALWAYS wore shoes in a parking lot. I used a hammer as my tire thumper though

It really doesn't matter to me what's worn by a driver. That's his or her choice. But check the truck for heavens sake.

I drove for swift! used a tire gauge and wore jeans and t shirt most days" clean" showered every day and brushed my teeth every day! and watched owner ops do exactly as you pointed out all the time. I even seen one guy who was the owner of the company" he offered me a job later" get out of his truck in his tighty whities and pee on the tire not 200 ft from the store and get back in. My point is yes there are some poor people at Swift and at werner and at Arnold and at any company you can name out there even non trucking companies have their slugs!

I haven't seen others not check for safety as careles as this. Maybe Swift sticks out but I sure wouldn't defend any company I worked for if that kind of stuff was seen. And like I said it's not their first dance. Maybe hauling gasoline I see a higher standard for safety.

Will I defend my company? Absolutely. Will I defend every idiot who manages to slip by the company rules? No.

I do my safety checks and then some. I dress professionally and frankly I dress better than a great many drivers of other companies.

If you're that concerned about the behavior of any drivery of ANY company then you should write down the truck number and call that company and report him/her. I do it. I report any driver that concerns me whether they work for Swift or any other company.

I see non professional behavior by many drivers of many companies so no I don't feel it's only Swift or even primarily Swift. I see many drivers of non Swift companies using the fuel line for bathroom breaks or to buy food. I see them park poorly, block drives, park on the scales etc. What I don't do is whine about it on this forum and attempt to say that it's the entire company.

Maybe I should start. Maybe I should begin posting every photo of every truck I see parked where they shouldn't be. Maybe I should make a new thread and complain every time I see a tanker blocking the drive instead of working to get his rump in a space. Maybe I should claim it's that entire company.

    But I won't........why? I'm to busy working.

And no I'm not angry, irritated, mad or ticked off........I think the whole thing is funny. Do something about it if you're concerned.

I tell you what. Since I'm going with Swift, I'll be sure to do a thorough pre and post inspection of my truck at the beginning and end of every day. I'll be sure to wear a collared shirt (unless it is 100 degrees out) with need leather work shoes.

Can't say I plan to talk on a cell phone either. I don't do it in my car, and I certainly won't use a cell phone while driving a 40 ton truck. That is just plain stupidity.
