What can I say other then WOW! I have never been treated so bad by any other company EVER! I have 18yrs driving under my belt, The company I was working for the past 14yrs went under, I sat down and filled out 5 online apps in one night. Swift called me the very next day that was on a Friday Moring # 0801. come Monday morning I had a job, now I have heard all by the bad things about Swift and there drivers over the years but there's not 1 company out there that doesn't have dumb drivers and I needed a job FAST so I jumped in with both feet. Man where do I start, It seems that there office staff is made up of people that couldn't hang on the road or have never been on the road, there payroll dept. SUCK'S, just to name a few things. Now my tractor was in good shape and only had about 94000 miles on it So I hit the road I'm not gone 4 days and my DM sends my a msg on the Qaulcomm saying my truck needs it's 30000 mile service, I was shocked that it took there shop people 4 days to do this basic service, that's 4 days away from home with no pay, no miles, NO NOTHING!! I'm not sure how Swift is able to keep anyone new or not! they have my vote for the WORST COMPANY TO WORK FOR!!!
Swift what a JOKE!

I had the same problem with Western Express. Only company I ever worked for though that was timely with B-Service junk was JB Hunt. But I also had that done at their very small, very shabby Oklahoma City yard that as far as I know isn't even open anymore.
Swift, when I worked for them wasn't really a good company at all. They like to not pay you for stuff. I quit over their stupid little road ready class they used to say you had to take, amongst other reasons. I don't like doing free work. If I wouldn't have had to log it I would have taken the stupid class happily but to have to log it when it isn't compensated or anything really irritated me.
But maybe, just maybe they will do you better now. Ya never know. I will say don't just go jumping ship just yet unless you got a clear mind about it and room on the DAC and what not. Worst thing you could do right now is start hopping around. Not saying you would but the company I just got approved for just scolded me seriously because I got this moto "you don't pay....I don't stay". I will have to change that and continue to take spoonfuls of b.s. but, at least I will be able to say I have a job I guess. But take my word for it. Stay at least MINIMUM 6 months if you can handle it that long. Looks much better than 2 or 3 months. The longer you can hang in there the better. Even companies that say they allow 3 or 5 or 6 jobs in the last 3 years will turn your application down for short lengths of service. JB Hunt did that to me when I tried going back to them. Except they told me on the phone yes yes yes, come on down. Then sent me home 3 days into their lease operator orientation. Which was a blessing in disguise.
I KNOW it sucks, especially with Swift, but trust me stay as long as you possibly can tolerate it. You will thank yourself when the time comes that you find another company you'd really like to work for and they say ok. -
Anything is better then Swift. i came from there after almost 7 years being with them. In the end, the last 2-3 years were worst. I wouldn't recommend ANYONE go with Swift. And they have the LOWEST idle record in the industry. Where as most other companies, allow you to idle at least 30% or better, Swift says no. You have a variable % you have to manage month to month, depending on how THEY predict the weathers going to be. Such as my last month, July 2010, was a 21% idle, then half way through the month they changed it to 11%, so watch your back if your going with Swift.
Sad to see a company like that going down in flames but what can we do? The more we're informed and armed with info, the better we and others will be. Thanks for reading,

I've got no problem working for Swift. I'm treated very well and have had no problems when I idle higher than the monthly %. I idle higher every single week. Our B service has never taken longer than our reset time and the shop tells us to just let them know when we're resetting. They always get us in.
The only service problem we've ever had was when our a/c went out in El Paso and they had to order a part, they got it in the same day but couldn't install it until morning. We were given a motel room for the night.
Our fleet staff treats us very well and we've had no issues with them. Our fleet manager is a great guy.
I'm sorry your experience hasn't been as good as ours. -
