Well I enjoyed my weeks vacation, and then it was back to the old grind. I left out Tuesday morning and went down to union pier in Charleston S.C. and loaded a Volvo wheel loader that I carried over to the yard in Pooler Ga.. I dead headed from there up to Komatsu in Newberry, S.C. and picked up two mini-excavators going back up to Rochester, NY. I kicked those off Thursday around 1300 and then they dead headed me over to our yard in Decatur, Il. to pick a military motor grader going to some military buyers show in Fayetteville , NC.
I stopped in Wva, to do a chain check, and there was hydraulic fluid just pouring out of the rear of the machine. I quickly detected the source of the leak ( a fitting on a hydraulic line had worked its way loose) I tightened the connection and stopped the leak, but I had a hell of a mess to contend with. I grabbed my spill kit and soaked up as much of the fluid I could off of the deck of the trailer. The machine was pretty much covered on the left side and under carriage with the fluid. I called w/end dispatch and made them aware of the situation, and suggested that since I can't deliver this load until noon on Monday that I could take it by our terminal in Sanford NC, have them check the machine out refill the hydraulic reservoir and power wash the machine, so the customer is happy on the other end.
So I swung by the house and will leave out tonight after dinner, and be sitting in Sanford tonight by 2100. All in all for a short week it wasn't a bad week, and I got to come through the house for a day. I hope everyone has a safe and productive week. -
Hey runningman keep us posted. I enjoy reading your about your travels. I have been reading your posts for the last few months. I would like to drive for Cressler but the guy in charge of hiring will not consider me.

I have no clue why the guy in Carlisle will not consider me.
He will not give me a reason. I would really like to try Cressler because they do both van and flatbed but on the flatbed side they haul average size equipment. Then maybe some day move over to Keen.
-
Well im sorry to hear they won't consider you. They have pretty stringent criteria when it comes to hiring drivers.
TDriver4Life Thanks this. -
Been a busy few weeks for me, but have been getting through the house each weekend too. Running all NE van stuff for the last two weeks, not really my cup of tea.
I did get to do an oversize the week before though. Was a paver from Vogel down in Chambersburg. 112" wide. Picked it up Tuesday at lunch, delivered Thursday in Hooksett, NH. What a PITA, but was interesting to see just what it takes to do permit loads. BTW, those NH permits suck to fax...
Sorry to hear that TDriver. I know they had an issue with me having driven for 4 companies in the past 3 years, but after talking to me Tom decided to give me a shot. Felt pretty lucky tbh since I'm planning on moving to Keen as well once I get some more flatbed/stepdeck under my belt. Just hope they get more for me to do... -
Raezzor- Is Cressler a decent company? I don't hear much about them other than what I have been told. They seem to be one of the few that are actually decent to drive for. I would like to know why T.L. wont hire me but I will probably never know. I know it would work out if he would just give me a shot but I guess he could care less. (I hope I don't aggravate any of you Keen/Cressler drivers with what I am saying here).

Ya well I guess you could say that the ball is in their court now. They can pick and choose which drivers they want; which sucks for me. I don't know what else I could say to T.L. that might make him change his mind. If you guys know who I am talking about, give me some hints as to what I could say. On a separate note, all these companies say they want drivers but some seem to picky. I don't blame them but if the only reason is you don't want to hire some one is because they doesn't have a stellar employment record then they are their own worse enemy. My employment history is 6 years of driving and 6 employers but 2 of these employers I was with for over 2 years. Let me know if that seems bad or if you know of drivers with worse histories.
-
Keen/Cresseler is a top tier company and they pay as such, so the stack of applications is huge, and they can afford to be very picky. Did you ask Tom why you didn't fit there hiring criteria? Do you have anything out of the ordinary in your past employment history? I.E. truck abandonment, fired, wrecks?
