So what do you suggest? That I go on the road as a musician, 'cause that's the only thing I'm good at. But it doesn't pay anything and it's not regular work. Obviously, I'm not the only one who doesn't listen. I have said that I'm ready to put in my dues, not whine, work hard for the same company for a couple years and NOT sign on to a lease/operator program. If that ain't the way to make it as a trucker, I don't know what is.

I am not dumb enough to go with CRE after all the complaints about them. But I am curious about what it's like to work for their company, not as a O/O. I was just asking questions.

If I get turned down, I'll just try somewhere else. I ain't gonna cry about it. Thanks for your input.

go to work for your step dad, or whomever he is........so what he's mean.........that's your opinion of him. maybe your sis does things that make sense and he supports her. maybe she is showing him she can stand on her own two feet...........whatever. suck it up and work for him show him you are a man, not a wimp. maybe working for him will toughen you up and smarten you up. you'll get a better education from him then any school that will promise you the world, and NOT DELIVER.............so what you work for minimum wage, so what you work 20 hours a day........as it stands right now, with your penchant for stealing, your future isn't too brite to begin with.........nobody else had to do what you did (steal), that got booted out of the house like you did........did you ever think it was to make you GROW UP.......?? your step dad(whatever) saw you needed to be kicked out.........

you got to be a whiny little so and so..............and you want to be a trucker........???? you'll NEVER survive life on the road.........what will you do when your dispatcher yells at you (and he will) when you screw up or mess up.........?? what will you do when the shipper or receiver yells at you because you screwed up, and they will.........???

you need a can of "whoop-arse" opened on you to make you a man..........and not the frigging wimp you are.............

Find someone like me where you live.I suggest you search the biker bars or truckstop bars. After you find the right crowd there you will recieve advice on how to circumvent the rules.

If I lived near you I would rent a single axle truck and have you driving it like a pro in one day,the next day I would drive you to the DMV where you could take your driving test, after you have your CDL in your pocket,I would show you a telephone book of where you live and we would tear out the transportation page, then you and I would go to every company on that page until you get hired and we ain't saying nothing about some goofy misdemeanor that don't add up to a hill of beans.

I'll try for a few more months and if I can't get hired I'll work for my dad for a while. By the way, he's my real dad. I live with mom and stepdad. Stepdad is ok, but he doesn't want me here. Just trying to find my own way in life without any ties to any family.

BR is right. You don't need no fancy school to get into this industry. You don't even have to go work for a mega company either. I got my cdl because the company I was holding a stop sign for needed another class b driver. I went in a different truck and got my A instead. The company liked that, my sniveling little boss didn't. Nobody cared what he thought about anything though.

Hell, go work for one of your step dad's competitors. That'll get his knickers in a bunch.

You're not listening on what's being said here. The school will lie to you just to get your money. Then you're out all those bucks and can not find a job because you have a blemish on your record. The COMPANIES are the people that are going to hire you and they are the ones that make the decision NOT the school. I think you need more research to reevaluate your approach.

Do you think if you went to work for you Dad and went in there with a can do attitude that he might change? Even if he doesn't don't you think it might be a sweet deal in the end? You say he's a great business manager but lacks people skills so why not learn how to avoid those bad skills. It sounds like you two have been butting heads for a long time. If that's the case then you're going to have to prove to him your a good asset. That will be hard since he knows you inside and out. If I were you I'd take a social psychology course at your local community college, it wouldn't hurt.

shoot, a-hole or not, if my dad owned any kind of big truck truckin company I'd be all over it in a heartbeat.

with your record if u wanna drive u should take what you've got there in front of you.

then again, I'm operating under the assumption that your dad would ACTUALLY WANT TO GIVE YOU a job.

I'm the one who said you listened to br because he told you want you want to hear. And you agreed that in fact that's exactly why you're listening to him. So I'm going to talk to you like you're one of my kids because I like you and I think you need to hear some blunt talking.

So now you're listening to Drivers Solutions because they're telling you want you want to hear.

Do you want to be a driver or do you just want people to pat you on the head and tell you whatever you want to hear?

We can do that. We can say oh you poor thing you've got life so rough and yes yes the truck fairy will make all your dreams come true. Then we can watch you give money to driver solution and get no job.

    OR

We can tell you solid, current advice and perhaps you'll be able to make it.

You see hun, we WANT you to make it in life. I know, I know it sounds real lame but the fact is we do. We WANT you to be successful, rise above your past mistakes, get a job doing something you want to do, make good money, have a happy productive life. But most of us are a bit (or a lot) older and well we've seen some things in life and we just sit around while we work trying to hope that young people will be successful. We're weird that way.

Now, drivers solution is a school that exists ONLY to make money. I know that sounds mean but it's the truth. They aren't your best friend, they don't really care about you. They want to get students and make money so they each get a pay check. Trucking companies want to make money, drivers are not at the top of their worry. They want to get drivers, work them for as little as possible so the company makes money and they get their pay checks. The union isn't really your friend either, they want members so they get dues an yes yes so they get their paychecks.

The ONLY people who don't get a paycheck off of you is other drivers, the members of this forum. So honey do your self a big favor and stop looking for what you WANT to hear and start looking for reality.

Now, you did a bad thing and now you've got a record. It doesn't matter to the school because they're not hiring you.....they're taking your money.

You want a job not just to pay to go to school. So you need to listen to advice that will help you get a job.

There are some mighty nice people on this forum who give good advice but sometimes that advice is OLD. (I'm sorry to some of the people who give this advice but it's true) The trucking industry is NOT the same gettting into it now as it was getting into it 20 years ago. Twenty year old advice is not going to help you.

You need to dig through the advice given to you hun and find what is CURRENT, what is HONEST, what is not from people who want MONEY from you. And not from people who CLAIM they did a bunch of jobs and now sit around an all you can eat buffet while collecting welfare checks while bragging about having 7 DUIs.

You may not like my post, you may not like me, others may get all ticked off at me. But by golly I'll sleep tonight because I've told you straight and honest.

Again: do you want good sound advice or do you want us to pat your head and say poor baby?

A man wants advice and help....a little boy wants a head patting and frankly I believe you're a MAN.

I gotta say, when I was about 16 some guy sat me down and gave me the same speech. I sorta listened and definitely got my ### beat. its made me a hardass worker and a man and today I'm more or less writing my own ticket at work n have accomplishments that make me n my parents proud.

its good advice n sound logic there. good on ya RR.
