Just be for-warned....Their "Functional Skills Test" requires a person to climb onto a platform about 50-52" off the ground. It's supposed to mimic climbing into a trailer, but it's set up more like a flatbed. It has one 2x4 at about 18-20" to use as a step up, but NO WHERE to grab onto with your hands like a real trailer.

    BIG RIGGER Thanks this.

    Not weed out
Assuring you can do the job.
If you can't get in and out of the trailer how can you secure the load. Oh I know you say do it while at the dock. But how bout that drop and hook at the yard or switch out at the truckstop lol my load locks are going with me not you.

I had to work hard to get to where I could do the step up. And we got NO step up. It was one step. I was very overweight and out of physical conditioning. I had also fallen off a ladder and injured my hip and fractured my leg. BUT I wanted to pass that test and the work well test that Swift had at the time. So I worked out....worked out every day. I lifted weights, walked, climbed stairs and built a mimic of the step up. I passed that test with the help of other applicants who kept cheering me on "you can do it you can do it". And the encouragement of the members on this board.

On our trailers there is no good handhold so to do the step up is just as difficult as the test. If I want to do the job I should be capable of doing the job.

If you REALLY want this job.....you'll bust your butt and get to where you can do it. If I can........You can.

    Go for it!!!

If you really wanted to "do the job", you'd jettison the lard. CSI 2010 will weed the likes of you out anyway so, better now than later.

Please post your link to this. To the best of my knowledge there is NO bmi regulation.

As far as "buffet busters" trying to climb into a trailer...that would be great entertainment!

I haven't heard about the "BMI" test. That would get rid of 80% of the drivers out there! Where are you getting this information? Not to be a critic, just curious as to fact or fiction.
