I have 4 months OTR with Pepsi, and I've read some disturbing threads lately. One guy said that trucking companies don't recognize driving with Pepsi as OTR ? Is this an general consensus with all the trucking companies? I'm required to keep a log book if I drive out of state, and the minute I start a log book is the start of my OTR, at least that's what I was told by my trainer! Someone please tell me if I'm wrong! A recruiter from a Big LTL Company told me today that it's not considered OTR since the company put me up in a hotel, and not a sleeper. WT.......????

Thats OTR and should be logged.n8dwgphx Thanks this. -
When my hubby first went OTR the company told him it only counted as OTR if he spent more than one night a week away from home, not so much the log book.
IMO: they are looking at if you can deal with being away from home for extended periods or if you are one of those drivers who HAS to be home so many nights a week etc.WildTiger1990 and n8dwgphx Thank this. -

I think ya'll are misunderstanding what he's asking. I'm sure he knows when he needs a log book. To answer your question, different companies have different ideas of what OTR is. Some companies say you need to have driven in X number of states to have OTR experience, others say you are OTR when you stay in the truck for X number of days. I have never heard that you are OTR as soon as you start a log. Some companies require you to keep a log even if you are a local driver. Your job is unlikely to be considered OTR by most companies standards.
