Is my keyboard set on Greek or what?
That's my point! The only reason I posted in the first place is because PowderJoints seemed to take the piss out of DickJones for running even days.
Everybody needs to run their books differently. To call even days inefficient depends on the application.
I run regional, and some weeks the planners do seem to show up for work and I have to run full days and get a restart late in the week. But that's MY JOB. YOUR JOB requires you to work your book your way. Making it legal and maximizing your efficiency are the key points. And, going all the way back to the reason I got involved in this silly thread in the first place, some jobs benefit from as even a dispersal of those hours as possible.
And to imply that 8.75 hour days are pedestrian or "social" is a little condescending. When I was running in that way it was usually because I had a mid-afternoon pick-up. I'd run 8.5 on and 10 off (with brief pit stops, of course) so I could do an evening-night shift, a day shift, and an early morning shift and get the load in on time. Then the reload would be the next morning...so I'd do straight day runs at 8 hours for the backhaul. It was absolutely no profit to me IN MY SITUATION to tear up an 11 hour day, because inevitably that 11 hour day would make for a 4 hour day somewhere else, and I'd be getting the 4 back when I needed the 11.
Does this apply to Powder Joints? No. Does his situation apply to me? No. I took issue with the implication that I or indeed everybody should be taking my weekends at home. I don't have that choice at this point in my life. Just as soon as I get the opportunity, I'll be taking it. For now, I'm playing the game the way it needs to be played.
And no, my current job (Marten, because I can't hide it and don't care to) doesn't care a bit if I run my butt off and bust balls to get to receivers 18 hours early. I'd just have to sit and wait. So why do it? If it benefited me I would. I did when I first started here. Then I learned that Saienga's life at Marten Transport doesn't benefit from gutting my 70.
Do we get it now, or was I typing in Polish this time?

Your typing leads one to think of you the way you have earned it. You will get what you deserve.
I refer to the 8.75 as social since you have so much spare time. It is not meant as a derogatory comment.
If your company is fine with it, more power to you.
Many of the other companies are certainly more demanding.
You earn the way you do, I will earn what I do. -
I wrote a post saying "Not everybody's job works like yours"
PJ wrote a post saying "Don't tell me how to do my job, you're a newb!"
I wrote a post saying "You didn't understand my point, here's my point"
You wrote a post saying "Everybody's different"
I wrote a post saying "Nobody seems to be reading what I'm writing, I'm trying to say everybody's different."
You wrote a post saying "You'll get what you deserve"
I know you're senior here, I know he's senior here, but that doesn't give you a free pass on patting my head like a puppy, then telling me the exact thing I've spent three posts saying, as if somehow I'm arguing that 8.5 hour days is the best way for everybody to work.
One last shot at this: Legal is legal. Using it as best you can is the smartest way for anybody to do their job. For some people, this means 11 hour days until a restart. For others, it means 8-9 hour days for 30 days straight.AFSTruckerswife Thanks this. -
Hrm. Well credit goes to my wife.
Apologies are in order from me.
Most of the reason I got mad and then got involved (I should have done neither) has to do with PJ. He said, "Why not run hard and take your weekend at home?"
This is exactly the job I want (if not daily local), and it's a job I can't seem to find. That pretty well skyrocketed my blood pressure. It sucks that most big companies don't even try to be efficient enough to get drivers home weekly.
No reason to take it out on you folks.
Forgive the sass, please, it wasn't appropriate.otherhalftw and AFSTruckerswife Thank this. -
I understand just what you are saying. Like I said. Run whatever you want to. It is your choice. If YOUR company has no problem, then you are lucky.
I do not work for anyone. I choose when, where, how and why I run.
No offense intended or taken.otherhalftw Thanks this. -
