I don't know why you're fussing at me about leasing. I plan on remaining a company driver. I was responding to something OH said.
thanks

on a side note, you notice those "IEL" ads on the driver services window? Says "save $2,500 down payment". Well, from the info i've been told out of Greer, you don't 'save' it. you still end up paying it...but its just deferred. Not to mention, they charge you $250 service fee for THEIR program.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
I was sarcastic as hail. I've never touched freight in my 3 years there. I've only dealt with one lumper service. Hail, I haven't had a live load in about a year now, lolol.
And I get my money back on the very next check every time. Of course I don't use Comcheks except for maybe once a year or so. But I did have a $50 drop fee of which I was reimbursed 2 weeks later.Texas-Nana Thanks this. -
Hello everyone,
Got a question for you all.
Everyone mentions swift pay during the mentoring session the 6 weeks. Everyone says $450 / week. Is this 450 before or after taxes.
I currently am working as an EMT with 3 years experience, looking to switch to truck because of the damage to my body working in a 911 system. People getting fatter, nothing to help us move 'em.
I make with 3 years experience $420.** per week. Thats after taxes & after medical & 401k, etc.
Thanks. -
Before taxes and anything else taken out. And it's not actually per week it's broken down into days. So if your mentor has hometime during your time and you go home......you don't get paid for those days. -
My guess is BEFORE taxes are taken out.

Thats what I was going to be afriad off. But I'm going to be taking cdl classes privately ( private school ) so I won't have to worry about swift training. By the time I am finacially ready to start the CDL, I'll have money set aside to cover expenses to beable to live on that little pay, debt paid off, car paid off, etc. 6 weeks isn't bad.
From all the info I have been reading Swift looks like its going to be my first company. There is a company here I would like to work for but they require 1 year otr.
I don't mind working my butt off. I never make waves, you never get through life argueing with everyone. Just do my job and hopefully they will give me the miles, help them they help you. Unlike EMS.JustSonny Thanks this. -
I've just scanned some of the more recent posts in this thread. It has caused me to wonder if there is another Swift Transportation out there somewhere that runs their operation differently than the Swift Transportation I drive for. Granted, I've only been driving for about 2 months but in that time I've experienced a good bit of what actually happens out here with respect to Swift.
I'm not going to "champion the cause" of Swift. I have my own issues with them but I'm ###### CERTAIN I would have the same number of issues with many of the other carriers that take on trainee drivers...maybe more issues with those others. I dunno, I've not been there.
Thanks to the Swift drivers and Swift driver SOs who have attempted to set some of the record straight. Me, well I'm out here doin' the deal, takin' the bad with the good knowing that every Tuesday my bank gets a little happier with me. If I keep it up, the bank might just break into a full-blown smile!
(P.S. I hope this post is neither out of place nor presumptious. Just got on a little tear. Later, Oldnew...)Last edited: Aug 22, 2010
