    Do you have to pick a comfort zone? Personally I want to see all of the US. Maby perhaps you can pick a comfort zone further down the road?

    I was on 48 and went to the "910" TX to Canada border Colorado. East to FL and Atlantic. NJ and PA nothing above that. I did take a load to upstate NY. I want to go way out West like I was when I trained.

    I am back on the 48, my choice.

    never drove through chicago but i have drove through nyc with my car. I couldnt even stand driving in nyc with my car. I hope to avoid nyc altogether but im sure thats not likely.

    If you're on a 53' trailer, I doubt you have anything to worry about regarding NYC. Now, Long Island a different story.

    Angle and straight. Put it in the parking spot, don't hit anything.

    Comfort zones, yes, still available as long as there aren't too many people in your terminal already in whatever comfort zone you want to be in.

    Chicago isn't all that bad. At least most of what people do there kind of makes sense. I'd rather sit all day in Chicago than sit for five minutes in Atlanta.

    NYC...last time I went to the area for Swift, there were local day-cab drivers who know the city and how to drive it who picked up the loads and delivered them into the city. I never had to put so much as a single tread in the city. Long Island isn't bad at all. Just get on 287 and stay on it until you get to your correct exit. Nevermind what those 12'6" signs say. 287 generally moves pretty good even in the worst traffic times.

    Been around Chicago a bunch. Drove through at 8am, 6:30am. Not bad.

    well after jumping ship in october, I'm coming back to swift on jan. 4th. I thought the grass was greener at this other mega carrier, but turns out swift treated and paid me a whole lot better. just wanted to say glad to be coming back to swift:biggrin_255:

    my advice? take what they give ya. Unless the thing breaks down on ya 5 times before getting to the gate...take it. a truck is a truck is a truck. if it rolls, it'll make you a paycheck. my first truck had almost 600k miles on it. drove it for 4 months and then got a brand new Volvo.

    Sometimes new drivers get new trucks, but its not too frequent. They dont want to put a new driver in a new truck if they're an 'untested' driver. why give a new driver a new truck if they're not going to care about ripping a bumper off?
