Good it's time we drivers come together and stop this madness that these companies get away with. Biggest mistake I ever made was getting into trucking for these educated IDIOTS! take that USA TRUCK

i had a codriver who had to stop in every whorehouse E of the Mississippi R. He would piss me off so bad and I was married. I went in one in TN thinking it was a truck stop and a prostitute came to my table and because I didnt want anything from her she asked me if I was Queer. The guy we worked for ran us from CA to NY to VA to CA and wouldnt leet us stop at the house for more than 2 hrs. In 6 weeks I saw my wife 2 times so I quit. He said he'd nerve reccoment me for a job and I said I'd never tell anyone I'd even worked for him.

Educated idiots would be way too much of a gold star for most of these companies spoken of here. Educated I doubt highly. Trained to deceive is much more likely. Until drivers start to say NO to idiotic things like running on little or no sleep, waiting hours on end getting loaded or unloaded WITHOUT pay, it will only get worse and it has. In my short 10 years spent mostly as an o/o, I am on a path to get away from this insanity altogether. Although my remaining years will be spent standing up at every opportunity to what has become the status quo of drivers mentality. What has happened to self-respect? Being threatened with your job is absolutely no reason to lose self-respect or quality of life. It is simple. If any one of these big companies had no drivers, they'd be out of business. And onto the next big outfit that gobbles there leftovers up. A very simple fix to a group of laborers(most drivers) that only want their job to be fair. Something that most driving jobs are very far from.

That is great that companies must use their valuable time to see what driver think about them. This is the world that they created, not the drivers!

Giltner pays their drivers to just drive and drive?
Some truckin' companies dock a driver's pay a dollar a mile for all out-of-route miles. A million miles out-of-route could eat up a paycheck real quick.
Try taking advances and run the wheels off instead of runnin' your ##### off.
Truckin' companies are forced to do unto all their drivers what they do unto one. If they didn't, someone would accuse them of favoritism.
You didn't mention how long your husband has been a Big truck truck driver, but I'm guesin' not very long. A general misconception is that truckin' companies pay their drivers to just drive. If that were the case truckin' would be one of the easiest jobs on the planet. But there's more to drivin' than just drivin'.

Actually, what a driver is paid to do is deliver loads. No delivery, no pay. Otherwise, drivers would just drive and drive millions of miles and never have to deal with rude shippers and receivers. If that were the case, I doubt a company like that would have a high turn over rate among their drivers, --- probably even have a waiting list of drivers wanting such a gravy gig.

Seriously though, if your husband turns the truck in when he gets to the yard, he should be sure that the company is aware of his plans ahead of time to avoid having his DAC dinged with equipment abandonment, even though he left it in their own yard.

If your husband is worried that informing the company of his plans will anger the company, --- so what if it does? Has the company ever angered your husband?
Your husband should notify the company in a way that requires conformation from the company in writing as proof that there was no abandonment involved, and that the company was aware of the situation before the actual event takes place. Get everything in writing before hand. And when your husband turns the truck in, make notes of any pre-existing damage, if any, and take pictures for a visual record of the condition of the truck so the company can't make false claims of damage caused by your husband.

The hardest thing to do is to refrain from tellin' the company where to go and what to do when they get there. Your husband needs to remain cool, calm and collected to avoid angering the company. Angry companies are known to get even in unscrupulous ways that could prevent a driver from being hired by another truckin' company. It ain't fair, but that's the way it is.

I wish the best for both of you and hope your husband finds another truckin' company that treats him with the respect he deserves.
Keep us informed and let us know if there's anything we can do to assist.

Arent' these two lines contradictory of one another? Although refraining from telling the company where to go is the only way to go, they'll leave something negative on a dac because they can if they so desire. Even if it is less than true.

I have worked for four trucking companies and I could go back to any of the first three simply because I left them the right way. I gave a two week notice and continued to do my job during my notice. Two of the three previous companies didn't know what running legal is and abused their drivers as a way of doing business. Even now there are times I get fed up and angry enough I would love to park the truck and walk home.

This is just some free advice that some may feel is worth what you paid for it. No matter how a company or individual treats me, I try always to treat them the right way and do the right thing. It says a lot about your character and goes a long way to overcoming the negative someone else says about you. By the way just because those previous companies would hire me, doesn't mean I'm planning to return to them.

I do agree that documenting the condition of the truck when you turn it in is an excellent idea, even if you are leaving under good circumstances. You have no idea how long that truck is going to sit before another driver gets it. It could be used as a loaner and the new driver could damage it as soon as he gets in it and blame it on the previous driver-you.
