The gap widens the higher your miles are, but keep in mind that Central also charges and over milage fee. That fee is based off the actual miles of your truck, not the dispatched milage. So, if you have 200 miles deadhead and a 2000 mile load, but the entire load is actually 2354 miles, your milage is calculated on actual, not what you're paid on. And you'll over milage over about 2700 miles a week, if I remember.
For a solo, it's not to obad for the over milage. but if you train or team, you'll rack up a huge amount. I know a guy with 9 months left on his Pete, but the buyout's something like $60,000 because of all the over milage he and his co-driver have put on it.

This is the way I read it on their website too. It says they take like .08 cents a mile for overage. It says that come baloon payment time that the money they took for overage is subtracted from the payment. Actually nevermind. I read that on swifts lease package. I would imagine its the same though. They cant charge you twice for over miles. -
It is the same. The over mileage goes into an escrow account that stays with the truck. If you buy it out then it is applied to the balloon payment. If you do not it stays with the truck and Central will get it and either buy out the truck themselves to use for a year or so, or they will just return it to the lease company.
MAC is one of the schools owned by the guy that ran the Medina one. He is Rick, Paula was in the office when I went to it for a refresher as well.
I cannot remember the other guys names. A guy with white hair and a beard was inside for the classroom stuff. He was a decent guy.
Then the guys on the backing range were ok. One was an ex Swift driver, I think he had 6 years OTR with them. The other I cannot remember where he worked.
Was not driving anymore due to hitting a bull dozer. He had a coughing fit driving and blacked out for a few seconds.
When he came too it was too late and he was going at a dozer blade.
I don't remember much about the on road guys. I was only in a truck on the road with one of them, and it was not for more than 45 min or an hour.
Then they dropped me off at the Volvo dealer in Buffalo to pick up a truck that was getting out of the shop to bobtail it to the school. -
Well, it looks like i will not be starting Aug. 30. I was just informed that i needed 100 for registration and 150 (or is it 115) for licensing. I've been out of work since last year and I definantly don't have the money. I'm a little discourage but i have to wait a little longer until i raised the money up. I can't wait till i meet some of you drivers that keeping everyone informed. Just give me a few more weeks maybe something will happen. Pray for me and my family. God Bless.

Weird... I was not told of the 150. They only told me id have to have 100. Guess I will prepare and have 250 then. /sigh I wish they would give you all this info up front instead of in little spurts. Im not sure I am accepted yet. I have to call the recruiter tommorow. If so then Im slated for buffalo on the 6th or 7th. -

I would plan to save more than that before school is done.
You will need a good bit of cash when you get to Orientation at Central. I am guessing they will send you to Conley, since that is where the NY school people always go.
It will be a while before you get a real check. So you will have to have money for food to last at least 2 weeks to be safe. If you bring less than that you may not be eating for a few days out of the first 14, and truck stops are not cheap.
Also you cannot count on your trainer having a refrigerator or much storage for anything you bring. They may, and they may let you use it. But they do not have too if they do not want too.
At orientation you will get meal tickets for 2 meals a day at the little place by the gas station.
After that you will get a 100 dollar advance. At this point it will be a week and a half or so till you get any money, and the advance will come out of your first training pay check.hammer time Thanks this. -
Oh I planned to bring about 400 with me just for the road money. Im talking fee money up front. I was only told 100. The other poster was told 100 + 150 so that would be 250. I will find out from my recruiter when I call her tommorow. If I have to bring 650 then Ill bring 650. I may not get in anyways. The problem I am having is my job. I was discharged for lack of production. She says if I was fired then Im disqualified and that I should get a job for 2 months then reapply. Im trying to make her understand its not the same as being fired. I was let go yeah but it was just a political move. I didnt do anything wrong. My manager would give me a good reference and I told her that and she couldnt understand lol. It was no fault of my own. She mentioned unemployment and I said Im on unemployment. She said oh well that changes things. Then she said I need to fax her something stating that im recieving unemployment. I dont have anything that directly says Im recieving it so I dont know what to do. I have all kinds of letters from the office with mandatory meetings and such I just dont have anything that directly says.... you are recieving unemployment.
