Were losing Focus, this IS MY point. everyones got an opinion, too many chiefs, not enough indians, all any truck driver does is question eachother. WHY!? Stop the insanity! all good points but they are #'s 5,6,7,8,9 on the list, lets focus on the #1 problem. GETTING TOGETHER!!!!!! then & only then can we work TOGETHER on these issues.
didntitellu and platinum Thank this. -
kinda like the signs on drivers trailers that say "say NO to cheap freight". Okay...so if rates went up 2-3x what they are now, just so drivers can "earn more"...you really think the companies WON'T pass on the higher shipping costs onto their paying customers? So those eggs wont cost $2 a dozen, and milk wont cost $3-4/gal. they'd be 1.5-2x as much.
so its kind of a catch 22.
i'm all for the point system. Want to run illegal? Want to run unsafe?? Want to run with faulty equipment that you KNOW is faulty??? Want to run 2-3 logbooks then get caught????? thats your own #### fault. -

Its still the case of the O/O versus the Company Driver, as I am sure you have figured out. One generally will flourish and one will not. Depending on the economic times. Its kind of like that old joke with the young bull and the old bull. Young Bull is sitting on top of the hill, and he sees a bunch of heifers down below. Young Bull says, "Daddy, Daddy, let's RUN down there and F#### ONE of them. The Old Bull says, "Son, lets WALK down there and F### them ALL!!! Proceed with thought. With CSA 2010 or2011 or2012, I am thinking that the OLD BULL is not the rebel O/O.Last edited: Aug 25, 2010

Why in the world would you sit in traffic for 4 hours? I never have anywhere that is so important that I have to be there so bad that I would sit in traffic for 4 hours.
The skill is time management and prior planning.
If I am yanking a load down to Los Angeles, I know that between 3 PM and 7Pm the I-405, 705, 610, 5 and other major freeways are going to likely be a parking lot. So what do I do, kick back in the sleeper, watch some TV, relax, take a little nap, eat some dinner, take care of things I know will need to be done later, then when the traffic is gone I get after it, and im well rested and I have hours to run legally.
I did the lets roll the log bood around and make it all work game for a while, its not worth it, when you do it your stressing yourself too much, you are driving yourself towards an early grave, and quite possible a big ticket.
Planning ahead is a wonderful thing, if you meander through life its gonna hurt.outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
I think it's interesting how many believe all the BS about CSA2010. Go to the governemt web site and read it. It clearly states that the drivers are not the ones being assesed. It's the companies!! The companies are instituing fines and penalties against the drivers. [Another way to screw ya] NOT the fed.
I think it's long overdue..along with the infamous "black boxes". The blame for all the log violations is finially going start falling where it should have for 50 years. On the dispatchers, shippers and recievers.
If you make sure your vehicle is truly safe and you run legal then what's the problem?
Think of this---You're in a crash that was caused by someone else. Say, a car. That car has a black box to tell everyone what happend with it. It's the same with trucks. Frankly, I like the idea. -
It is a direct infringement on our liberty, and atempting to come down and force me to is going to be hazardous to anyones health who is dumb enough to try.
There isnt a dimes worth of difference than having a black box on your truck and having a barcode etched into your head, or well a number tatooed on your arm like they did back in 38.outerspacehillbilly Thanks this. -
