####, I must be confused then. That time the guy lost the aluminum ladder in front of me in I 294, dropping it right in the path of my tires and I swerved I must have been somewhere else. Or maybe because I had enough time to avoid it without doing attempting a hard brake I wasn't following him close enough. Sorry, but each situation is different and the word never doesn't accommodate them all.

you should be looking 12 to 15 seconds ahead.............

a "sudden change in direction" can get you rolled over........going straight.......not even on an exit ramp at high speeds.........

Don't worry, I'm looking far ahead. I also leave more space than most people. That doesn't change the fact that sometimes things happen. For the most part I would say don't swerve but to say never is just silly. We must have very different ideas of what that word means.

BTW, I spend a lot of time driving in your great Country.

I drove for three years in Germany. Yes, on the autobahn. You should be looking at least 30 seconds ahead. It takes on average 15 seconds from foot to brake and applied pressure to full stop with an 80K truck at 60mph. Then you have to add reaction time.

To the OP. Don't give up. Lots of drivers, new and experienced, have rolled a truck and been able to remain employed. Hubby might have to go with one of those real bottom feeder companies that has 10 crappy trucks, but don't give up.

 

It's not a good situation but I agree you shouldn't give up. It might be slim pickings but you may be able to find a company that will hire you. Maybe a local outfit.
I would say next time just grip the steering and plow on through. Sounds cold but that's probably your safest bet.
