Perhaps I never mentioned it buddy but, I'm a real PAIN IN THE *** stickler when it comes to an inspection. The 1 page list I made yesterday morning sits on the dash right now....LOL
Much of it is rather minor stuff that I could even do myself.
I really am very serious about safety and being the old, stubborn, pig headed, meticulous, perfectionist German I am, some would even tend to think I go overboard. Being that I've spent my life building very large custom homes and doing things that would make even the most daring shake in their boots, in 30 years not I, nor anyone on my crews ever got hurt.
So now here I am, the "newbie" in yet another dangerous occupation. I feel I owe it to myself and everyone else out there to start out with solid, safe equipment. I have enough to focus on with easing myself into this in a safe, courteous manner. I don't need to worry about mechanical things adding to that.
Yep, it was Cage and in fact, I posted to his thread last night that I think I got one his Volvo's offspring. It would be interesting to see if his truck # is lower than mine....![]()

Cruiser, I do have PayPal and have for many many years. That's how I get paid for selling the 3 dimensional CNC wood carving patterns I create. It's my hope we'll meet up out there at some point and enjoy a nice meal while swapping tall tales of the road. We can flip a coin for the tab....LOL
Sammycat, The best part about your offer is we could cook the meal together. At the risk of sounding a tad full of myself here, I not only love to cook, I'm pretty darn good at it too. And the offer to twist through a few scenic mountain roads on the HOG still stands.sammycat Thanks this. -
Hey Chris Morning!
Enjoy your day of internet, soft bed and hot running water!! LOL!
Yes that offer stands for a meal, although you may just out cook me! There are a bunch of people on TTR that I would like to meet- I've said it before- but it really is a family feel on this forum. You have met some and will meet more TTR Members and how nice to put a face and name to someone's member name. There is a thread currently on who have you met from TTR and it's pretty intersting to read that some just have met up and others met awhile back and some have missed each other by just a few miles or a few minutes! As to that HOG ride.......hmmmmmm. Just call me chickenbut we shall see....
And keep reminding us that for awhile you won't be able to post as much once you get a truck that runs LMAO!! -
Well, my absense will be reminder enough I'd think. Oh, it "runs", but like an old HOG, it just leaves a trail of oil.....LOLsammycat Thanks this. -
Well hopefully they'll get you into a different truck, even if it's a loaner so you don't sit too long.

Hey Chris, we talked back when we were both about to start our orientations. I had been following your's here and it looks like it was almost exactly the same as ours in Missoula. We had our last class Thursday about 5:00pm and left the Terminal with our first load at 7:30ish pm. Headed to Idaho Falls to pick up a driver with a broken truck and dropped him off with our load in Boise Id. Got hella lost in Bhul ID looking for Seneca to pick up our next load (like 4 street signs in the whole town, tried to call the shipper 4 different times and kept going to voicemail of course, lol) Finally got our load and headed off to Galesburg IL. got here early this morning and can't unoad till Monday at 9:00am. So here we sit. RunningTeams with a guy I met at Sage so we can really put some miles on the truck, just not crazy about the ssitting part of it. I'm sure we have missed a few things along the way, maybe a qualcomm message or 2? But I'm sure we will get this figured out as we get a little more experience. Orientation for us was crazy, loads of information in just a short time. Had a blast with it though, hope to run into you out here somewhere. BTW bet we got your "Freightshaker" lol.

OH SURE!!! YOU got my FL.......
That would be just my luck. YOU and my FL "running" into me! That would make for a heck of a post now wouldn't it?
Well, unless they get me another truck, it won't be anytime soon I'm afraid.Last edited: Aug 29, 2010
