I was told I was buying a W900L. The metal tags in the door frame as well as the under dash claim MODEL: W900B...so I was curious, not that it matters either way, but curious.

I took some measurements and found a 72" hood (measured from behind the air cleaner along the gray pinstripe to the front edge of the radiator) and a 130" BBC (to the best of my ability).
I then spoke to a local KW dealer. He told me they are all stamped W900B whether its a W900B or W900L.

Can anyone that OWNS a W900L confirm/deny this statement?
Is the cab stamped W900B on an L model?
How else can I tell a B from an L?

im not sure, but the easiest way to tell for me is look at the hood, the w9b hood is shorter and the top of the fenders are higher off the ground, yours is a w9l.

Why is the fuel tank polished on the drivers side and painted on the passenger side?

Naturally someone would notice this :biggrin_25521:

The truck was hit on the pass side during an ice storm (prior owner) and he replaced the tank with one from a 'parts' truck he had - some woman literally just slide slowly into the tank and dented it in.... I am working on either covering the driver's side tank OR removing the decal on the pass side. Not sure which is easier. The passenger side photo was taken the day I bought the truck (6/20) and the driver side photo was taken 2 weeks ago, which also explains some of the differences, in case anyone else notices.. (like the CB antennas for example)

I prefer the stainless look but was told I would need to remove the tank to remove the blue decals on it. Not sure its worth the effort yet.
The replacement tank was a bit different than the original one (as far as the fuel inlet) so he had to get longer fuel hoses made. That caused an imbalance and the pump wasn't drawing from both tanks - it was favoring the driver side. So he bought the same exact longer hoses for the other side, to balance it out and now it draws/returns to/from each tank in unison.

Here it is real fast and easy. If you can get a side view of the truck.

Notice the extra chrome slice under the air cleaner and slightly to your left??

This one doesn't have that.... its a B model.
Far as I know that is about the only difference, the length of the hoods.

Well I am hoping someone with a known W900L chimes in about the build decals inside the rig. According to KW, the hood is longer and the BBC should be 130"....

I'm sure that whats on the build decals would mention it.

The wheel base probably isn't set in stone. I've seen different length trucks, depends on whats been ordered.

All of the "L" models say "B" inside the door just like your KW dealer said. I have an "L" and it says "B" inside the door as well. "L" is just a designator for a long hood.

    AH HAH! :biggrin_2559: - So I wasnt L00ney here :biggrin_2556:

..so..what makes the long hood? What length?
Where do you measure it from....?

Sorry to start this stupid thread, but the wishy-washy answers I got locally became irritating....I am determined to settle this. Besides, I need to move the focus from my other issue at the moment and this is a good detractor.....
