OK, so I'm waiting on my pre-employment from Prime and the first and probably most important question I have is:

I live in central Mass and have seen more Prime trucks around lately. Also, I've seen u guys talkin about being up and around here. Ques. is, Can I run regional up here and if so I would assume that it would greatly help home time. I would love to go everywhere during training, but it would be nice to end up back around the house. Also, are there any terminals around here? Thnx

The only regional gig we have up there is out of Lewiston ME - you might want to ask about that, but that would be after training. We are 99.5% OTR, and our dispatch method is first empty, first dispatched on the best load without preference for where its at. Personally, I prefer running up that way, but my last loads were out of TX and KS.

The closest terminal we have in that direction is Pittston, PA (Scranton) - but we don't spend much time in those places... mostly for maintenance and training. Because of our dispatch model my preference is to stay away from our terminals simply because you don't make any money sitting on your bee-hind without turning wheels underneath it!

That is absolutely scary....last empty gets the first dispatch....what do they do, wait till everyone is emptied out that day and then work up the list backwards? :biggrin_25523:

I hope that was a bit of sarcasm????

They do training in Pittston? I was under the impression it would be in Springfield.

CDL instruction is done only in Springfield. You could be assigned a trainer out of Pittston... or Springfield, Salt Lake City or Denver. Not likely that it would be the latter two - I'd think you'd be based out of Pittston.

We have drop yard privileges in any number of areas. If you're drift is hometime, the deal is you put in for it, they get you a load to a receiver in your general vicinity, unload, drop the trailer somewhere convenient and useful, bobtail home.

I dont see why he couldnt get the regional gig. Answer is always no unless you ask.

I did about 5 of the local jobs out of the Lewiston ME Walmart DC. Usually anywhere from 3 to 4 stores hauling either a Walmart reefer or dry box. A few of the stores had empty trailers or dropped trailers in doors.

I dont see why they wouldnt have him run some sort of schedule out of the DC where his last store is local for him. drop his trailer at the store, go home for a couple days and then return grabbing a empty.

Its not like the trucks are day cabs, he runs in and out of ther DC for whaterver the deal is 5-7 days. Gets Hometime, repeat.

Anyway, ask see what they got going... it might be the deal for you. 80 percent of the stores were in Mass that I delivered to... However, I wouldnt expect it to be something where you go home every night unless you lived in Lewiston ME itself. I could be wrong, so ask.

I even back hauled a load of apples from northern MA with a Wally trailer. Kinda sucked as I got used to the 3 hour drive back with an empty

Thanks guys, all I can do is ask , right? That would be nice to end w/ something like that as I know all the roads around here, and maybe squeeze some home time in. Like I said, I have been seeing more Prime trucks # here. Side note, I think ORG was hauling to my old employer down the street. I'm heading there now to check.

But I also want to try to see a little more of the country than just NE. I hear there are some funny people out there.
