Yup. Here are some numbers to show why 15 measly mph is such a big deal in truck driving:
http://www.jmu.edu/safetyplan/vehicle/generaldriver/stoppingdistance.shtml
A loaded truck panic stopped from 45 mph took 228 feet, and from 60 mph took 361 feet. Increase speed by one third, and the stopping distance increases by 58%---almost two thirds.
I got another ticket, need experienced advice

Best advice i can give you is keep a constant look at your speedo if not set it on cruise control other than that keep off the highways and let the proffessionals do there work
-
exactly. now take into account the 40000 pounds of cargo you got behind you and that is ALOT of force.

just look at the above site and you will soon realize what happens when people get distracted coming home from church. -
I know what it means to focus unfortunately today was not a good day. Proper rest is key and that has a factor in it also. Thats why it is good there is rules and regulations on downtime. Also I have driven a 5- Ton Expando Truck in the Army with Air Brakes. Drove without any accidents and awarded a drivers badge. I have also drove all my POV's to almost 200k miles each without any incidents one speeding ticket years ago like 7 and one no proof of insurance. I had it but was expired and forgot to put the new one in my car -
I wish you the best. I encourage you to explore every option and see where that gets you.
What's done is done, now it's about how you overcome. Which you can.
Best of luck to you. -
guys come on ease up a little.....look fella iv gotten numerous tickets hauling live fish when i was in fear of running outta oxygen and bout to lose 30000 lbs of fish.....alot of times you can go to a safty class or driving school as they call it in mississippi an get it expunged....worth a try.....slow down from now on lol.....happy trails

man.....you ####### are heartless.....

Ok there is one major thing wrong with what you just said. ok you said you were worried about losing your fish so you were speeding and got pulled over. Now how long do you think it took to get that ticket written up and you to get going again? Now if you were going the speed limit you wouldn't of gotten stopped so you would of continued going and would of gotten there at either the same time or earlier. so no there is NEVER reason to speed. Think before you speak.

Powder Joints,
You posted:
"Does not prove anything, I have had several speeding tickets, minor ones, but speeding none the less that I plead guilty to lessor charges that did not show up as speeding, but as seatbelt and coasting, neither of which have ever been held against me in court, employment or insurance."
and
"After you spend a couple of million miles behind the wheel maybe, just maybe you will have earned the right to correct someone like me who has, been there done that. Until then newbie you need to spend more time learning and less time correcting those whom have put in the miles safely."
How can you honestly say you have three million miles of safe driving, when you admit to "having several speeding tickets", your words not mine. I did not say that I had never speeded, just that I never had a 15 mph over ticket, not have I had any type of infraction since becoming a CDL holder. Therefor I stand by my statement that THOUSANDS (not millions like you posted) of drivers are safe drivers and can probably claim the same thing as I.

For the record I got my ticket within 4 minutes, scanned my license and printed out a ticket.
Capt_Gruuvy Thanks this.
