Most of the time they won't serve you walking through a drive through because of insurance reasons.

LOL Chris up in 'our' here parts if you WALK thru the drive thru they probably think you are gonna rob them!!!!

I hope you get some word on your truck or loner or what ever. Despite having some time off this weekend now to decompress, I know the asphalt is calling you big time!!!

    Chris,

Ain't it great the way Southern women call you Hun and Sweetie. I know they say that to most people, but and old fart like me likes hearing it.

Too bad the last person who drove that truck didn't turn it in for service.

WS used to authorize one tractor wash per month so when you get a chance you can get the exterior cleaned. What condition was the interior in? I think they will give you a new mattress if you ask. Also a CB if it didn't have one. The shop should also give you a couple of gallons of oil and coolant.

After running your own company for so long, it must be an adjustment to have things out of your control pop up, especially right out of the gate.

I hope they get your truck repaired soon!

Dont lie to them, call if you are going to be 5 min late, never call dispatch mad, call the supervisor and give him ideas on how to make things better, like... I loaded a lod of Kaiser in Spokane, went to Rockford and unloaded all but 1 sheet. I told them in Missoula that I would be ety except foo 500 lb so to load me at Rockford, put the sheet on top and send me to Inciana and home. They ignored me and I called the Super for lease ops and said I wasnt making money FOR THE COMPANY, not me. I also gave him ideas on how to fix it. S... hit the fan so to speak. Take every load if you can. Keep the inside of your truck waxed with Lemon Pledge and the floor spotless. They will be impressed. Most of all, be ready for the Mechs to grease your steering wheel and get your floor dirty. W-S is the best Company I ever worked for or with period.

I'll tell ya Cruiser, it really is nice. Even as a "Yankee", I've been calling women Hun and sweetie all my life. I LOVE the south and the people because they're all as friendly as I am....LOL

And the meals you get at restaurants? Not only is the food GREAT but if you leave hungry, it's your own fault! The servings are huge and the prices right. I've yet to completely finish anything I ordered. Sometimes I'm lucky to get halfway through it....LOL.....:biggrin_2556:

It is an adjustment for sure to not be the "boss" but the good part is, having been so for so long, I don't wait around for others to handle things. I step right in and do whatever I can to help work things out.

Mike-NC has been a HUGE help with that! :biggrin_25514:

On the other side of that coin, this is probably the closest you can get to being a self-employed "employee"....LOL

This is an outside shop so I don't know how much I could expect to get in terms of oil and such. But again, I'm just learning here. The truck was in very good shape clean wise both inside and out. The shop did that. I spoke with them this morning and they were almost embarrassed that they didn't "wash the floor". I told them I was SO PLEASED with it's condition as I imagined spending the weekend just getting it livable. No such thing.......I can pretty much move right in. Just a little detail here and there that I'll do as I can on the move.

The last driver quit and we suspect is the one that "took" all the papers because the terminal manager here swears they checked it all and it was all good. I believe him.

Anyway, he just called me about an hour ago and told me the shop said it should be ready in the morning. Asked me to call him at 0900 to be sure and for a ride back over there. So, with the good Lord's will, I should be rolling tomorrow.

I wonder if I'd be pushing my luck by asking dispatch for a no touch load back toward Jersey so I can get home to get all my "other" stuff and just be finished with all that so I can get out there, stay out there and RUN!!

I guess I'm wondering if I've scored any brownie points by going through what I did to make that first load happen. Which, it would have had the old girl not started blowing oil 30 miles into it.

As a former mechanic, I recommend that you bobtail around until the engine reaches normal operating temperature, then check it for leaks. The shop will most likely have done that but it can't hurt to double check and make sure.

Brownie points always come in handy especially when you need a favor. Watch their back and hopefully they'll watch yours. Sounds like W/S will help you out when needed.

    Hey Chris!
Good news on the truck for tomorrow! and I think Wedge has a good idea about running bobtail for awhile to make sure that everything is okay. Many times I have gotten a vehicle from the shop to just turn right around again! Sounds good that the truck is clean at least and maybe they will let you run to NJ to get your stuff!

Okay and on that note Sweetie *not southern ergo NY State just a nice person!* now that I know you live in NJ..... Oh my... LOL what fun we can have with that!! *doubles over and laughs even more*
And you are a Giants fan too!!!!!!!!!!!! *tears rolling down cheeks*

Okay on your, hopefully, last night before you FINALLY get to roll for real- good luck Chris! Be safe driver and keep it between the ditches!!!!

Chris, one more nag from me. Tell me you have some type of belt for your back. I don't hear about you damaging yourself before I get out there (I must sound like a mother hen).:biggrin_25516:

That's it. No more nagging. :biggrin_255:

I hope the tractor's ready to go. Maybe they'll come up with a no touch load/unload to get you to NJ. But go easy if you have to fingerprint it.

    Good luck tomorrow!
