I don't know about the school there but I submitted my aplication to carolina cargo and ON a lucky note I played dumb and got a dispatcher to xfer me to the recruiters VM.
They do NOT want people calling, try emailing him... Thats the only way of getting a hold of him. Kevin@carolinacargo.com I think is what it is. GL, I gave up on trucking.
Im working back at a call center now making 12 an hour, it sucks but I guess trucking can't accept people with felonies on their record. -
. Luckily, there is a Call Center Job with some openings. Guess I'll try my luck there

God made sure I got this CDL, and I know he aint gone leave me hang'n! I am a trucker, I drove for the Military and I will dive as a civilian! If there is anyone out there who knows of a company that will hire an ex-felon, speak up

Thats funny you should say that , I got the idea to enlist and right up to signing the papers everything was going good, I almost did it but my gf talked me out of it.
Good enough to serve my country, good enough to stay out of trouble, good enough to live an honest life but NO ##### you, you messed up 16 years ago when you were 18 and got caught so no job for you..
Thats pretty much what society is saying to me right now. half the jobs Ive had I've lied on the aplication and hoped for the best because I already know Im not getting a fair shake.... With trucking though you cant do that and Im seeing what happeneds. -
Use your imagination...........
Felons are hired everyday in this business !!!!!
Hell, there's quite a few that post on here.
And just a hint, if you are wasting your time with the big companies, you'll never make it !! -
Really? I would have never guessed... Funny how the three in my class and my self are the only ones who have not been hired on with a company.. One of us has 8 years NEVER late to work ONCE solid work history and he is having the hardest time..
Me, #### I have two felony thefts, "recieving stolen property"
Even after I tell them what it was about..
Buying 7 pairs of oakley sunglasses
Driving a friend who had a stolen "fish Finder" off a boat 16 F**King years ago and I get 1 of 3 responses..
Watkins&Shepard: Roxie Ignores my calls after I submitted my aplication and explained.. I finaly had to get a hold of her supervisor that said they hired some people already with prior expericence.
Prime: Said they hired some people with more exp.
Carolina cargo: I'll most likely get grey pubes before I hear back from them.
CR England So far I have not had 3 of my last calls returned EVEN after I explained IN DETAIL what the charges were and was told it would not be an issue.. so you tell me man.
It sure as hell aient my work history, These last 10 years its been college or work with positive work history.
So yea I went back to a call center and nearly 5k tax dollars were wasted on me going to school because these truck companies talk big about hiring people with legal history but when push comes to shove its " ###### you" until the industry gets to desperate they "lower their standards" as they put it although many of these "excons" as people like to say work their ### off and pay taxes like everyone else.
so yea I said ###### it, I'm angry. I was looking forward to a career in trucking but dam ###### all the stuff Ive done with my life from when I was 19.. nope all they care about is when I was a dumb 18 year old.
Mind you I've made it clear in every post My offence was recieving stolen property.... Not sex crimes, not drugs, not violence or weapons related.. I have a SPOTLESS clean drive record...
ONLY company SO far to at least give me a review has been swift and I was told after being denied that if I had already had at least 6 months of driving history it would have offset my record to the point where they would have hired me.. so go figure -
The crimes aren't whats holding you back ..........................
-
I have a feeling this is about to get interesting.

There are some companies out there that won't hire anyone with a felony, but there's many more that have certain criteria. Most won't hire someone with a violent or sex related crime, others specify no drug charges. But those that do hire people with a record will have a minimum time limit. 5 or 10 years usually. What I do is to go to the job boards for truckers. Google terms like "trucker jobs" and you'll find em. (can't post the links here) Most will have company criteria posted right on the profile. Select the ones that you qualify for and go for it. Just don't hide the fact from them. If you say "no" and they find something... Your application will be rejected.
A BIT OF ADVICE FOR THOSE OUT THERE: If you've got a felony on your record it's vital that you're aware of this fact: CIVIL AGENCIES like police and courts are obligated to honor "vacate and expunge" laws regarding criminal records. But PRIVATE AGENCIES can keep ANY dirt for any length of time. If a background check company has your files.. You're labeled "criminal" forever!!
For me, I learned the hard way that though under Washington state law, I am legally allowed to answer "No" to: "Have you ever been convicted of a felony?" I will NOT be hired if I say "No."
