From what I can tell, the battery and or charging system is not working.
Had it plugged in to house AC for about 8 Hrs. The LED was green, but soon as turned on then unplugged from power, unit shuts down. No warning when it happens. Any time it is not plugged into a power source, all the unit will do is a quick flash of the screen.

I have noted a few other quirks that may be related to the battery problem.

It seems to change the "view" on occasion from head up to north up.
The other is the log timers. I don't use them, but it has several times warned me I am running out of hours for the day. I like when it does that say 3 or 4 hours into the day.

As soon as I get another TND in and tested, I will exchange yours out.

    Thanks,

It is not up to the manufacturer of any device to arbitrarily decide what I need.

no but they do have to have a default setting so why not max? im sure if it was set to minimum or mute people would complain about that too. cant please them all.

I am curious about something. If i hit the rest button on the GPS what exactly will that do? If i hit it will it reset all the settings then i just got to change them again? what exactly does it "reset"? The only reason i ask is i am not getting a isgnal on my gps after the problems i had earlier. It says NO GPS on my map and 2 red X on the main menu. When i start it up i see a little bar saying "starting Odyssey mobile please wait" i dont think i ever seen that before. am i suppose to see that?

Well my gps still wont grab a gps signal. i drove around for 10 minutes last night and it still had the NO GPS on the screen. I assume i need a file that im missing. I called tech support and they wernt very helpful. They want me to exchange it but i dont see that happening since i didnt buy it locally. and the odds of me hitting the exact pilot i was at when i bought are very slim. I assume i just need a certain file or files to make it work since everything works except the GPS signal.

That is why you are able to turn it down or mute it. A DB for Max has been set. The Volume is not preset so you cannot mute it or turn it down.

When a product is made, it is made for the general public in mind. They try to make a product that is appealing to the majority of the public. If it does not suit your tastes, then you have the means not to buy the product. I do that all the time. Consumer choice.

    Thanks,
    Mark

You are missing a few files in your Navi\bin folder.

    Thanks,

I knew you were going to drag that worn out quote out again. It doesn't apply in this case. Every driver sets the volume were they need it. Rand has decided to change that setting back to where they want it every time the unit reboots. That's taking away from every single customer so you pretty much shot yourself in the foot with that one.

Also, if the unit just had to have a default setting for that, then why do units from other manufactures not have that default setting? They actually remember where the customer set the volume and do just fine.
