You'll have to take what they give you since you have a contract. Some people have problems with that and others don't. If you don't like the job after a year then you can move to a better comopany if you find one. I believe alot of us have gone through bad companies one time or another. I always looked at it as gaining experience and learning all I could. One important aspect you've got to keep in mind at all times is keeping your record clean. With that and experience you are able to pick and choose the good companies to work for. You'll also gain the knowledge of what are the better companies out there because most of the good companies do not advertise for jobs. People come to them vs. them going after people. What part of Southern Jersey?

I'm in Vineland. I have no trouble signing a contract for 1 year. If they are willing to teach, I'm willing to learn.

I know a guy who went to train at Prime... his trainer was scheduled for a vacation so he was dropped off at a truck stop while the trainer went home for a week. prime wouldn't advance the guy any $$$ since he wasn't with the truck and he wound up begging for $$$ while he was stuck there.

The sad thing is he actually went back on the truck after the trainers vacation and lasted about another month before a lack of miles cut his trucking career short... he still owed Prime for his training... don't know if he ever paid though.

the odds of students staying with the first trucking job and being on the hook for the schooling for the year term is very very low at best. i've worked for prime 2 times if i count wiltrans which runs through prime.wiltrans being my first job back in 01.after 3 months of otr with a trainer i saw it was'nt a good choice with wiltrans at the time.i found a local job at home and stayed there for 6mo then went to prime.i have to say it's doable but hard at prime as a solo lease with bills back home.they tell ya all the good stuff in their ads and on the phone.but they don't tell you all they deduct all the hidden bs.put it this way my truck made around 4k a week after the 1200 a week truck payment, tire fund, ins, they also deduct so many cents per mile for the truck payment fund"end of lease balloon payment".then on top of that they take out 2 or 3 cents per mile if you run "to many miles" yup i would knock down the miles too but i think it kicks in on anything over 1800 or 2k per week something like that.i would run 3k+ a week.and at the end of it all even with making 4k a week i'd see maybe 500 to 600 of that sometimes only 100 or so.im just saying be careful because they make it look all great and banging it in your head you manage what you make and you are in control lmao yea ok their big focus point was fuel.if ya drive slower you will make more money.lmao yea ok not by much either way.

+ once you count the fact that they hardly book loads legal lmao they book loads pretty much by mph through each state vets know what im talking about.

the bad part is i still like prime if they didn't rape you on your lease and all it would be a great company to work for.back when i worked there it was all lease up until a year later when they bought out rocor.

i will add this tho if your a team the lease is great cause they will run your ### off.i ran teams for about 4 months and we were running loads out of chelsea mass market to salinas cali then pick a load up in bakersfield back to mass.lil over 7k miles a week like this.so it's not all bad but running a lease truck solo is very rough and no home time cause you can't afford to.you still owe the truck payment every week so if you built up a week home time you better have the extra money to make the payment.unless it changed but i doubt it.

so is it good to work for prime?
    solo---no
    teams---can be/yes
trainer----yes can be but i don't think i'd be able to trust a noob with my truck while i sleep in the back lmao.i've seen some people and say wtf really?lol

lmao you could say that about every company.no joking it happens everywhere.thats when you as a person are supposed to have a brain.thats when you stand up and say don't ####### think so not here.thats when you get ahold of dispatch and say wtf? you better fix this and i better have a motel and some food here.1 word of advice for students is yes you respect the ones training you but come on when you see bs call it out.this will do 1 of 2 things for you.1 it will show you what your trainer and company really are about"cause as a trainer i'd want to test my student to see if they have enough balls to be a trucker first off, cause it's not peaches and cream out there.

2 this will show you if the trainer is really a trainer cause he is supposed to be getting you rdy for your own truck not use you for miles.

i'll also add while you are in training talk little listen alot, not just on the learning part but watch and listen to how the trainer works with the company and also watch and see how the company treats the trainer/driver.this will be more of a value to you than you think.it will show you what to expect and if the company will treat you right.

facts is you pretty much have 1 person "dispatch" that will make or break you.alot of them act like cops on power trips if you ever say NO they will/do hold grudges remember that.

Well then, if you know it's no longer the same Company, then why bother complaining?
