Gee, I wouldn't want to take that trip. Biggest reason is that I smoke and don't think they would stop too many times so I could get off and smoke.

If I can't drive 600 miles in one day I shouldn't be considering this job.

Yeah that was what I was almost looking at coming from Maryland. I said, heck with that. So I started looking into airline tickets. Found some really good deals. However, I am getting an open-ended round trip ticket just in case something dire happens. Always good to be prepared. Call me a pessimist I guess. I don't forsee any issues arising at Orientation. I've been very open and honest about everything, was approved and have nothing in my background that would disqualify me. I am all good.

I am a pessimist too. I have nothing in my background but have a couple of health issues that might worry them. Even though My doctor has given me a green light there's always a chance that the DOC in Box Prime uses might raise a red flag. So a return is possible for me but maybe I'm worrying too much for nothing.

Ah... Dr. A. is a real medical doctor. Don't plan on sliding something past him.

Does anyone know if Prime as any runs near Louisville, Ky. so a fella can get home on the weekends after all the training and running solo? Im ready to make the transition into trucking but having a difficult time finding a decent company that can give decent hometime. All advice appreciated.

Yeah, we deliver to the Louisville area, and have shippers there as well. You want to be home on the weekends? That's not a very realistic expectation for making money in a OTR company that takes new drivers. It won't work on the lease side, and isn't allowed on the company side with Prime. The company expects you to be out 3 weeks between hometime visits if you're a company driver. You'd need to talk to recruiting to see if there is some sort of regional deal that might allow you more overnight time at home.

You're probably going to have to start your career, tough it out for a year or two to get some experience, and then look for something more local.

    Thanks for the fast response.

Guess I should have been more detailed in my post. Im aware of the sacrifices I need to make for the first year or so getting my OTR in. What Im wondering is if Prime has something Id be interested in after I pay my dues. Im more interested than staying with one company rather than jumping from one place to another.

Well one way for United was $207 and some change. Round trip was like $327.00. So for the extra $120 something I thought it best to have a return ticket home just in case something happens. I don't forsee anything happening. No medical issues I am aware of, nothing criminal and no major tickets or anything on my driving record. Good work history. I am not worried, just dont like taking chances.

Thanks Mav. I'm just starting to look, but I might end up on the grey dog from hel.l. I'm 95% sure I'm goin down for the 28th, but we''ll see, still got a little time to change it up.
Good luck, we should be in the same boat.
