Razorwyr, I am starting with Stevens on November 8th. From what I have read from drivers on here, if you are a company driver you have to park at a Kenworth dealer or a Thermo King facility. Look those two up and see how close they are to you. It just so happens that I have a Kenworth and Thermo King dealers a mile from my house! Lucky!

Greetings and Salutations!
I got my CDL yesterday and am headed out tomorrow for orientation. Thanks to all the Stevens drivers who have made this thread both informative and fun to read. Looking forward to contributing to the discussion. -
Post any other questions you may have. We'll do our best to answer them for you.Razorwyr Thanks this. -
If there is not a Dealership or thermo king dealer near you, and you can find a secure lot, fenced, gated, attended, people coming and going, take pictures of it, and see if stevens will approve the lot for you to park your truck and trailer at. This is what I had to do living in Middle of Wyoming. They will work with you.
Be honest on your application. Most people are sent home for failing the drug test, failing to disclose medical problems, Having high blood pressure.
Ask questions until you are satisfied you have the answers needed to make an informed decision...
And if you join Stevens, welcome, and participate, and if you go somerwhere else, be safe.
Stevens only has one terminal, that is Dallas TX. They rent space at drop yards around the country. They have a drivers lounge (trailer house) in Laredo TX. I truly wish they would change that information on their web site.Razorwyr Thanks this. -

Just left the yard with my new truck. 2011 T660. This thing's like driving a sports car compared to the Pete I had.
Cleared the yard, got the keys to the new truck, swapped all my stuff over, got a load assignment and departed the yard in one day's time. If only everytime on the yard were like that. -
Hey Yall
I am tucked in here at the lovely America_Best motel. Orientations starts tomorrow. Yipee! -
Thanks for the information and the help. I really just wanted a little affirmation to what my recruiter had said. Time out on the road is really the only drawback for me from what I can tell and that is just something I may have to work out. My recruiter sticks to the information packet claiming 21-27 days. Other than that, ya'll pretty much re-stated what she had, people usually only get sent home for dishonesty, failing the drug test, or failing the physical. She did tell me that there are no drop yards listed in my immediate area, and I know the closest Kenworth and Thermoking dealers are at least an hour and a half away, but maybe I can find a "secure" enough place a little closer.

I have been pre-hired. Which Stevens School would you say is the best. I live in Colorado, and I know there is at least one in Texas...no brainer. I have looked into a couple different schools and their training methods.
Is the Colorado School equall to any of the Texas schools? Advantage to Colorado is the mountain driving.
