I have not been on this site as long as most and am now starting my second Trucking Job. Over the last week or so I have looked at every Carrier listed and everyone has several posts that say this is the worst company in America! Is this possible or is it just the individuals having bad attitudes? I am honestly not saying these people are cry babies but I dont know of any companies trucking companies or not that dont have problems especially when dealing with thousands of employees and different mindsets. I spent 8 months with FFE out of Dallas and had a great experience on every level. Sure I had my times sitting and I had some issues with payroll but I kept good records of my trips and my reimbursments and never had any problems clearing it up with a phone call or two. I am moving on to a company that better fits me and my family which basicly gets me home more. I dont know I guess I just figure that this Forum attracts a lot of new people looking for first time trucking jobs and it is very scary to look and never see anything positive. I am sure I will get mixed responses but I will say to all new drivers(students) to go with the flow, be positive, say yes sir and yes maam and unless you are an idiot or an ***hole you wont have any problems. Good luck to anybody starting out and dont pay so much attention to these negative comments just remember this is a job and not a vacation!!!

Good luck and its true when I was at my first orientation I couldnt believe how many losers and crybabies that were there complaining about everything from it taking to long to not liking the FREE food or why they thought they were already better than the guys that had years of experience. Just be positive and you will already come out front. Also I notoced those of us guys who were friendlier and positive and willing to listen we got the first avaiable trainers and werent made to sit for days on end.

I love how with only 1 year you think you already have it all figured out. For every 1 driver who has a positive thing to say about FFE there are several more who will tell you what a crappy outfit they have become. I'm 3rd generation at this, I have a perfect work record including working with convicts (both male/female and juvenile/adult) and have never ran across a company as mismanaged and treating their workers so poorly.

glad you had a good experience with them, but don't think it's typical.

i dont even know you and if you say you had a bad experience you probably did. All I am trying to say is just look at every major carrier and you will see probably 4 to 1 negative comments. I am just saying work is work and it sucks thats why they call it WORK.I have fished in Alaska every summer for 3 months for the last 12 years. I have deadlines to meet, I deal with the DNR, the EPA, The U.S. Coast Guard, the Alaska Dept of Fish and Game and have the state troopers who enforce it all crawling up my *** trying to enforce these departments regs and guess what I deal with it because it pays the bills. You are a man and you didnt like FFE so you quit and moved on doesnt mean you have to put the entire company down just because you didnt fit in! I had two different DM's and worked with several others and never had an issue. I will admit the evening people really suck but I just ignored them and that was that. I averaged over 2000 miles never was late except for the Ice Storm in Tennessee last winter when I was going from Olive Branch to Hazelton PA. i dont care if you are a 3rd 4th or 20th generation anything unfortunately times change with business due to insurance standard, fuel prices and trying to meet stockholders expectations. All I am saying being more positive on this forum would let the new people going into orientation feel better therefore they would have a better outcome!!!!!!!!!

In the REAL WORLD deep you will find it is better to give people the REAL truth about a company than to give them a sugar coated version running down the drivers "attitude" or "work ethic"? Sorry that sounds more like somebody interested in recruiting telling how it's "just work". Decent companies don't continually screw over drivers by "not getting their receipts" for several weeks in a row, they don't keep screwing the driver over by refusing to get a truck in the shop even after electrical problems on the unit causing late pickups and deliveries. I could go on and on with the BS that FFE pulled on me (documented in my paperwork as well as reported on this very forum as the events occurred) and events I know of from seeing QC messages to other drivers.

Being 3rd generation goes to knowing how these companies operate (both the good and the bad) FFE is and will continue to be a bottom feeder unless there is a paradigm shift in their office personnel. Hell according to some of their top people "it'd be a great company if they didn't have to have drivers"

Ahhhh to be young again and really *enjoy* trucking. Just absolutely tickled pink to be in that big truck...sure beats working don't it. Hand me any type #### or screw me silly and pay me as little as possible.....as long as I'm trucking I don't care.

Research says that only 1 in 20 redeem rebate coupons. Does this mean that rebates are bad?

People rarely speak up when things are going good.

You, like myself are in the "new" minority. The majority of "old timers" are used to averaging 3000 miles plus a week. Three years ago I was in that majority, and 3500 miles a week was my goal.

The majority (not all) of new guys/gals are coming into this field with huge piles of debt. They're not interested in "just getting by".

I can paint a turd pink. Will it taste better, or make your meal more enjoyable?

I like to give the guys a chance to read the information themselves, and sort through the BS. I have both good and bad things to say about the companies I have worked for. It's a mixed bag on my part.

But I do not mind calling a POS company what it is.

There are many ways to respond to Deepwater's post. I'll say this, I think this board is a microcosm of the country right now. Everything must be negative, and if you have any thing positive to say or disagree with the "negative people" you just get shouted down and ridiculed as "not knowing what you are talking about", "living in a fantasy world", "out of touch" etc etc etc. Just turn on any cable "news" channel or talk radio, it is all negativity, fear, hate and blame. Much like this website.

Lonewolf did a wonderful job of illustrating my point. Deepwater asked a pretty simple intended to provoke, what I assume was, thoughtful answers and instead he gets Lonewolf's reply. First we get the "I love how with only 1 year you think you already have it all figured out" remark. Not that he said he had it all figured out, just his experience with them was a positive one. (I even worked for one of the companies that get crushed on a daily basis on this website and while I had some issues, it was not nearly as bad as the axe grinders make it out to be.) Then we follow that up with the resume "I'm 3rd generation at this, I have a perfect work record including working with convicts (both male/female and juvenile/adult)..." how this relates to the op I still don't know. (especially the working with convicts part..relevant how?). Then my favorite, the "In the REAL WORLD" quote, this goes back to my original thought, person A has a different (positive) experience then person B's (negative) thus person A must be wrong and not living in the "real world". What is the "REAL truth"? One had a good exp and the other had a bad one, that is the "REAL truth".

Using your own quote/numbers. One good experience, one bad...same company.

The REAL truth is, there is a 50/50 chance you'll get bent over by a company. And it's up to you to decide how deep they shove it.

    Personally....my sphincter is one way.
