WhoEver Said Airline Pilots Can Strike are VERY VERY Wrong. I am a Flight Attendant with a Major Airline and Pilots cannot strike # will due to the Railway Labor Act the issue # hand has to goto an Abirtraitor then a 30 days cooldown period then another talks if no agreement is made a Judge has to give them permission to strike. Its not as easy a bunch of Union workers who decided to just get up and strike # anytime possible.

I disagree because any company that does it is going to lose a ton of business and will probably go bankrupt.
One thing I do know is that you are never going to get a bunch of businesses togeather to agree to do one thing.
Now the minute you have a company come in and mandate anyone getting insurance from them runs an E log, well guess what there will be abother company that picks up a ton of business! This is because no one wants the hassle. -
You are correct! CSA2010 does not give the goobermint the authority or ability to fire anyone. It is merely a national database to keep track of all violations and violators that anyone (but especially insurance companies and employers )can pay to get access to. This inforatin will be used to deny employment and/or determine insurance rates. The goobermint won't have to fire anyone, if you can't get or afford insurance, YOU WONT HAVE A JOB!!!
Wait till the CDL and medical card are linked together and your entire medical history is downloadable or accessible by running your license! -
Make more laws and it will result in more outlaws. That's pretty much the plain and simple truth of it.
That said, though, there are people in trucks who have no business being behind the wheel of a tricycle much less a 40T vehicle. These are the modern day "outlaws" that need to be weeded out. Old School fellers and gals and those who follow their ways are not, in my opinion, "outlaws" so much as individualists. As long as they know their limitations, I have no problem with it.
It's the knuckleheads DieselBear writes about on occasion. It's one thing to have decent equipment that is safe and road ready with a driver who knows how to conduct it down the road and when to pull over for some nap time. It's another altogether when you're looking at seven tires that should have been given burial rites months ago, brakes falling out of the cylinders, insurance and tags that have expired, a suspended CDL for too many DUI's and an outdated or forged medical card because the guy or gal with the suspect card is not healthy enough to get one legitimately. I don't know about y'all, but I don't want some crusty old phart driving next to me who has heart rhythm problems or dizzy spells. That's not "outlaw"....(to quote the Hillbilly) that's just stupid.
Regarding E-logs: I have said it before and I will say it again and again. E-logs are not going to contribute to safe highways. If everyone is on them, everyone will be racing them to get somewhere they can stop. It's what I found myself doing when I was on them. I had a 70mph truck that never saw above 65 until I was placed on E-logs...then it was top of the governor, hard to the floor for 11 straight hours with a couple of potty breaks.
I was forced to run against my Circadian clock because that's how the load fell. No way I had time to sleep until I was wide awake and ready to go. I just had to go, tired or not, in order to meet the deadline plus beat that E-log. I drove tired far more times on E-logs than I ever have on paper. I have seen the Black Dog...and it was while I was on E-logs.
I sincerely hope the idea is rethought and scrapped...with the exception of companies whose drivers consistently run into safety violations, log violations, equipment problems or accidents. Give them to the problem companies and leave the rest of us alone. -
Something to keep in mind about this entire subject ---
Digital records of everydamnthing are rapidly becoming the central focus of business everywhere in the developed world. Both storage and processing get more affordable and more efficient every day, and the data mining and linking programs that deal with it more plentiful.
In short, like it or not (I despise it), information tracking, gathering, and sharing is here, is growing exponentially, and not going away. Ever. Welcome the the 21st century.
Meaning either learn how the New World works and adapt accordingly, or pack your stuff and move to a developing country where none of it applies. Those are your choices. -
I had the same kind of issues when I had a qualcom in my truck because it can tattle tale on you when you have been driving for many hours straight. Funny life became a lot simpler when I put a switch on it that could shut it off, and then became even more simpler when I removed it from the truck completly.
I also just loved getting a call from the safety department because my truck saw 85 mph because I passed a 62 mph truck on a 2 lane road. -
Or invest in a really big EMP

There's always that. LoL!

I am looking at everything that appeared in the same post. This gentleman quotes Thomas Jefferson in his opposition to just lying down and taking what's dished out...and Ayn Rand with her statement about continuous rule and law making. Then I go up and read what this individual has to say for himself, wherein he basically says roll over and take it.
And he has the audacity to quote Jefferson and Rand!!!

And Pilots have a STRONG UNION, whereas most Truckers hate the Teamsters Union, The One Organization that created better working conditions for truck drivers working as company drivers.
